Steely Dan uses Sonic Reality stuffs?

Actually, Roger Nichols does. http://www.sampletank.com/WNAMM2004.html# (if you look through the NAMM picks you can see all kinds of interesting musicians who use IK and SR stuff, but me and Roger are in there. I have a better picture than this one though somewhere).

Another cool Steely-esque thing... I am working on a guitar sampling project this Summer with a legendary guitarist who used to play on old Steely Dan records. He also uses AmpliTube and SampleTank 2. In fact, he made a bunch of presets for AmpliTube that we'll put on www.esoundz.com some time soon as well.

Also, another guy said "What a stuffs" although I think he may have been talking about something else. :D

yeah, i'd love to upgrade, once i get a <cou..>job<..gh>. i have an 867 power book too. i'm sure (i hope) this will be available audio unit.

I tell though, your getting me exicited about this. If i start working on my wife now.. or mabey i can call my parents and tell them if i don't get this software they're gonna throw me in prison...there's always medical experiments going on around here, i hear that pays pretty well...
Thanks,

Yeah, they hired me to join the band so they could go back to the Aja sound they once had. Call me Steely Dave.

I wish I WAS in that band. I don't know if I am really good enough to fully pull it off. They work with some amazing keyboard players- real jazz guys. I can learn their tunes and improvise in my own way (in fact, I do with my local gigging band) but some of these jazz keyboardists they get can really do some incredible stuff(s).

If I could play like any keyboardist in the world though it would be Lyle Mays. But, I am afraid that would require years of practicing every day with still no guarantees.

I am also sampling some guys who used to play with Pat Metheney though too. Maybe we'll jam a little bit and I can pretend to be a hack Lyle Mays for a second. Hey, where's Bearded One for this conversation?

Oooh lord I really like the sound of where this is heading. Mays, Metheny, the Dan etc.

Dave, are you talking about Jim Beard and Gil Goldstein sounds for example?

 Yeah, air guitar solos instead of lip syncing. That would be pretty funny.

The Steely Dan guitarist I will tell you guys later. But, it is definitely cool to be working with these guys. I think I mentioned we're working with Doane Perry also from Jethro Tull. These are samples you guys can get as expansion libraries, refills or possibly sound modules... ya never know! The only thing you know is that I am capturing stuff I'd want to have which means other people will too.

When you've got musicians like this around it is always nice to get some loops. :D But, both of course. I like to have playable material the best. Boy, I wish I could tell you who one of the famous classic rock musicians we're doing a library with but I don't want to blow the surprise. I am very excited to have samples of the rare instruments he's used though and some classic authentic tones. You will see. We're always working on something cool. It never ends.

Equally cool are some new Hurdy Gurdy and Nickelharpa samples we did plus this amazing Duduk that was used on all kinds of records including some Gabriel tracks I think. I ended up buying it because of this odd situation where I convinced this wind guru in LA who was closing up his world instrument shop to sell it to me. It was given to him by this famous Duduk player (well, famous for playing Duduk on soundtracks and stuff). I love this instrument. It's the one at the beginning of Gabriel's Passion album. I've sampled a bunch of different ones but these new ones we did are the best.

You mean somone from the era when they actually took pride in their musicianship ??? before they started to tune their guitars down to Zb ???? back when live performances actually sounded better than their albums ??? back when you could distinguish at least patches of untatooed skin and they actually had body parts that didn't have some kind of metal drilled into it???

Yeah, they had long hair, smelled bad, and you sure as hell didn't want them around your wife/girlfriend/daughter, but damnit, they sho could play.

Cool, i can't wait
