It comes with its own dongle and it is extremely expensive but still whilst demoing stuff/When in rome hey?
That's like bringing a chainsaw to a knife fight. (Though I wouldn't be surprised if the gap in offline cleaning up has been closed substantially by Izotope etc now - their real skill today is in being able to run the processing in real time across a lot of channels).FWIW versions of the Sonnox tools are in Wavelab Elements - though with heavily restricted controls.

Yes George and Theo I was being OTT with that one for sure, I have been gone for quite awhile (for reasons not worth going into, I'm over it though/getting there) so I thought seeing this thread with friendly faces on it that i would make an excuse to post/say hello 
Fully agreed that if it isn't happening with Acon Restoration and/or RX4 Advanced then to be honest it probably is was not worth salvaging and yeah cedar's offerings are incredible but incredibly expensive, Unlike say Eventide, Lexicon amongst others that have had to become reasonable with absolutely quality competition in the software market. Cedar have carved out a big niche and pretty much stand alone. The amount of forsenic work, Remastering from freshly baked, Original master multi-track tapes and also dialogue/post work for the audio side of visuals must make for a great income plus mastering houses, All of whom can justify such costs without blinking instead of any us with home setups that have an instant coronary even thinking about what that sort of money could buy (Like that'd have me a not to shabby commercial space rented for awhile as but one example or be my spends for the next three or four years depending how life goes).
I'd say Cedar are pretty much an institute of excellence & dedication with what they do being so closely involved with the British Library National Sound Archive and Cambrigde University

BTW Theo, The Music Group/Behringer buying up TC Electronic should be interesting, I am looking forwards to where it leads. RODE just recently bought up Aphex speaking of a company closer to your home, Again that will be really interesting to see where it leads

If you buy wavelab elements it comes with the sonnox denoiser as part of its effect suite. I'm not sure if it's the full sonnox denoiser but it is very good.
Also if you are on mac the soundhack spectral shapers was recently updated to version 2 which has increased the fft from 512 to anywhere up to 8k bands. The spectral compand in the suite is actually a very capable denoiser and is also useful for other tasks.

Yeah Z-Noise is ageing a bit, but it can still be quite useful and it certainly has lower overhead than it's other counterparts.
I own RX too, and it's a beast. I know it's funny, but theres some circumstances where Z-Noise can produce more desirable results... Slightly.
I won't use the one tool, I'll use whatever I have at my disposal which, includes hosting Z-Noise inside of RX. Waves don't officially support RX as a platform, so it may be possible that someone will release an update that will break my RX/Waves functionality.
Unfortunately RX is also missing an effects chainer. Passing the sound through one process at a time can be a pain int the ass. Waves, however, have a StudioRack plugin which will run inside RX and host any SoundGrid compatible effect.
Unfortunately 3rd party support for SoundGrid still seems to be on the way. Last i heard plugin alliance were developing for StudioRack, I'm sure there are others. That will certainly be handy when chaining Transient Designer the Elysia Museq and anything else related for that matter.

Ok, now is the time to demo the sonnox restore bundle, as they are now 64 bit, reduced the price permanently and have an additional discount till the end of october.
I only had experience with the striped down versions that are included in Wavelab and I did not like them.
But now that I am demoing the full versions im really impressed. I think with all the discount till Oct. 31th I will buy them.
I also own the acon bundle and despite the good support and the good other acon plugins, I do not like the restoration bundle.
I listen to music that often is not released in digital form, so I often buy used records and record them to harddisk. With the Sonnox bundle I get very good and quick cleaning results...

I have Acon's restoration suite and I'm really happy with it. I mostly use it to clean up direct guitar tracks(hum from EMF, etc) and it works really well. If you don't need the pinpoint accuracy of RX I'd go with Acon. It's easy to use, but it works really well on a variety of sources.

So, hafter having worked extensively with the Sonnox Demo and my Acon Licence for working on some old vinyl records I have to admit that I was completely wrong.
I got quicker and better results with the acon suite, ad that to the price difference of both bundles and we have a real nobrainer in restoring.
