We have already some diffusion algorithm in SparkVerb that works pretty well.
Will have to test how it sounds in Relayer.
Thanks,

Can you guys post an audio example for guys without logic. You got me curious and maybe someone might know a similar effect. Just from the sound of it, karma fx creates really nice buildups if you tweak the filter section with high res settings.TheoM wrote:Just saw this post. Thank you. Yes it sounds incredible doesn't it. It's just a beautiful sound. On synths i don't use the hard drive, only really on drums sometimes and buildups, but the general sound of that delay is just gorgeous and actually adds a "sparkle" to synth sounds especially (with normal feedback levels).elxsound wrote:That actually sounds lovely! I'd have to keep playing around with it to get it to match, but the short answer is not quite.TheoM wrote:hey yes it's identical.. I can send you an example, but really, all you need to do is load logic, insert tape delay on any audio track and drive the feedback knob without touching anything else.elxsound wrote: Hey Theo if you want... send me a PM with an example, or if something is online send me a link to an example and I'll see if I can reproduce. I have Logic 9, so is it safe to assume that the Tape Delay remained the same in Logic X?
You will hear it get intense with distortion.. what i usually do is automate it for a second to drive it hard then pull it back .. it sounds awesome IMO..
Or i can send you an example.. whatever you prefer.... and, thank you
It is easier in Tape Delay because you only have to adjust the Feedback.
In Relayer, adding Waveshaper in the FX section sounds the closest to it (Biquad and Redux sound different) and I do think it's possible but at the moment (dead tired by the way), it's missing that nice buildup you get in Tape Delay, plus the quick drop when you pull back on the feedback.
It is possible to mimic it, but I think it might be a matter of automating something, or increasing the number of taps, and then drawing in your buildup there... Which might be a plus over Tape Delay depending on how you look at it.
Unfortunately any effort to find that *sound* outside of logic has proved fruitless for me over many years - even though there are MANY delays out there with much better *features* (like this uvi one, not even delay designer can do a half what this can do). Whenever i don't work in logic i crave the tape delay constantly.
A freebie was released for windows called the analogic delay and comes very close - and afaik it's the only one that gets that close - the coder specifically coded it for a friend of his who lost logic due to apple abandoning windows and wanted a tape delay that sounded the same that he could use in any daw - so his mate coded it! But unfortunately it's windows only
There is a dev for reason who is considering doing a 1:1 clone of the logic delay sound as an RE (of course it will look entirely different and perhaps have different features, but have that distorted saturated delicious feedback). But even that is not confirmed at this stage.

I can assure you guys that, no, we are not saving stuff for V2
Still, designing a product is something that needs to be matured, like it or not, adding features probably takes as much time to conceive right that actually coding those.
I'm not saying that your ideas are bad per se, just that I prefer to think about those a bit longer, before saying amen.
There are many ways to solve a problem. Some are better than others and some are more future proof.
I tend to look not for first thing that comes to mind, but for the fool and future proof solution.
I trust your thought about this, but I trust mine more and I need to convince myself what is the best way to implement something.
I can see how this could be frustrating, but that how it should be IMHO.
anyway, my 2 cents.
Relayer is extremely well thought out and the GUI is a pure pleasure to work with.
As I wrote before, the only thing I miss is a smooth diffusion FX, otherwise Relayer would be close to perfect for me.
Cheers,
Tom
if I'm not mistaken, you use hosts that provide a plethora of LFO options.
so ... go ahead and take his approach. meanwhile, some of us see the gaping hole left without them included in the ultimate-creative-super-duper-precise-radically-rythmic-etc last delay you'll ever need and would rather see the approach of 'given the remit, lfos need to be added one way or the other'

Have you tried Bloom? I have both and will compare tonight (not at my computer now), but I was always impressed with Bloom for that reason, plus the sequencer for modulation. It is why I keep using it.ThomasHelzle wrote:otristan wrote:We have already some diffusion algorithm in SparkVerb that works pretty well.

I'm not familiar with Spark Verb... I'm happy with my current verbs, so I never downloaded before, but if there's a demo of Spark Verb, I'd love to compare Bloom, Replika and Spark Verb's diffusion algo tonight.

@Tjgoa, unless someone beats me to it, I'll try and post an example (also tonight). Maybe it'll be best to find a free (and free to use) sample to compare in case you look for something else similar.Tjgoa wrote:Can you guys post an audio example for guys without logic. Oh just give it a break Daags.
Everybody has heard what you have to say (and how you chose to say it).
The dev has acknowledged that he will think about it.
So let it rest, give the devs some time to do their work and see what will evolve.
Code doesn't get written faster if somebody constantly shouts at you.
And yes, good hosts can solve many problems.
Have a good and relaxed day
Cheers,
Tom

Drum Loop from Samplephonics Raw Jungle (Free)
http://store.samplephonics.com/products/raw-jungle
Quick recording... But at least you can hear 1, how it distorts, and 2 how quickly it responds to feedback changes, both on/off.
Honestly, this loop in particular is not mind blowing or anything but I wanted to make sure to find something freely available.
If someone has another freely available loop to process I'll be happy to redo this.

And never mind! There's some fun to be had with Replika that so far just does not seem possible in any of Blooms 3 different modes. The diffusion network just doesn't allow the same freedom as in Replika, but Replika can replicate what Bloom can with its diffusion network.elxsound wrote:Have you tried Bloom? Thanks for the heads up elxsound. Yeah, Replika is quite amazing in that regard, I may try Bloom, but like many other people I "try" to not have too many delays...
(and of course I constantly fail
).

Tom

Just wanted to let you know that version 1.0.3 has been released.
Here is the changelog:
- add Mono/Mono and Mono/Stereo (available only in specific host) audio configuration
- AudioUnit version is now a Music Effect so you can send MIDI to it
- Fix some preset with wrong Color settings
- More logicial L/R Pan settings display
Note:
- For Protools users, you may need to reset your plugin cache to see the new configurations (mono and mono/stereo) by removing InstalledAAXPlugins file
See the following URL for details
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_U ... ings-PT-11
- AudioUnit users may need to rescan their plugin list
