Are you in a position to move knobs and switches in individual modules as well as changing the overall layout?
There is so much wasted space in all skins I've seen, due I think to the insistence that rotary selectors must be implemented as well as drop downs.
Surely an independent skin could bypass this and wouldn't have to be so constricted.

Yes...and among grown ups this would mean that every skinners post about his skinning progress will be on topic and perfectly acceptable

Anyway one last attempt to bring this thread back on track and keep it from being locked. There is at least one more skin in development by a highly talented very well respected gui artist. Let's wait to see what that's like when it's released and we'll go from there. :tu:

Really love the Hoverland skin. Nice work, mate!

This has inspired me to start making patches for Poly-Ana... As soon as I get some time. :hihi:

That's the greatest compliment a skin can receive. That it has inspired someone to make music or create patches. :tu:

I know I've been doing more patches since I installed the Hoverland skin....... :)

Really, I think his personality suffers of some kind of paranoid attitude, especially when it concerns his "baby" :borg:

Now, back on topic: What happened to this?
Norbz wrote: So based on Mike's feedback and with H-man's help, we're going to pull back a bit and just get a skin ready that Mike see's as acceptable before doing anything fancy with the knobs highlights (we need MANY different types of highlight knob types with different treatments re directions/degrees.., then new knobs in the xml, then trial/error), or any other extra custom knobs/adsr/etc.
I'm just here for the popcorn now.

Short version: -- Not touching this anymore, owner has no heart.

--------
In honor of Ingo's efforts and humility, I took all my work/video/source files down. I'll sell the skin or use it for my own stuff vs trying to give this guy anymore consulting or options or templates or anything that might actually help the dude.

As a business owner, if I asked for free work from talented (and not so talented) designers, I would expect to get a bunch of stuff both good and bad. I cannot for the life of me understand this guy Mikes ego and lack of humbleness (yes, it is FREE work in my eyes, a $150 synth is not a 'prize' for four/five figure branding treatments of your biz while you get to cherry pick and shit on people if they don't get it perfect or suggest other options).

How can you possibly respond like that to someone that is actually trying (forget his talent level or persistence for a sec, you can't have a contest and hope that no undesirable unforeseens happen or odd submissions get made public by excited users/attempts) to help you/your biz? I thought your comments to me were a bit much but this is over the top.

Once you learn some humility, empathy, and how to interact with your users I'll consider giving this another look. You can just pass the popcorn now as you wait for Picaso to show up and paint you a MonaLisa interface for $150 worth of your digital inventory or equivalent.

No way I'd feel good about helping this outfit now that I've seen how the owner operates as a person.

Way too emotionally invested to the point of his attitude overriding what a good biz owner could/should do. You need to be blessed and humbled foreal to see the position and power/responsibility you hope to have.

Ingo I would stop touching this thing if I were you, your stuff is improving slowly and I would never let anyone talk to me like that especially if I'm trying to help, and not causing anyone any harm. In fact, you are probably inspiring other designers to quickly try to outdo you, in fact you might be fake and this was all a marketing ploy to put up mediocre skins in progress to attract other/more advanced designers... meh.

I started off not liking Ingo but this is a true moment of what's right and what's not, and I'm sticking up for the underdog in this one based on principle.

wow.

Retranslated : I'm not one that needs validation or likeability, just mutual respect. Didn't get to where I am by being a 'take my ball home now' kinda guy, and my life is beautiful :). I can even dedicate my time to helping new biz owners package their products for free to improve their bottom line at times because I think the project and people are cool and great and humble.

Sorry I can't contribute my positive karma or work into negative territory or people just for the sake of making sure they like my stuff. I could have skinned this thing 20 more times and not touched the spacing/sizing just do graphics, and I'm sure some would have been loved, it's not about that and I think you know this. If the part you quoted isn't sarcastic I don't know what is.

I'm like actually moved - this dude just gave you guys xx attempts, threads, constant bumps, free bad skins to show good designers that roll through and want to take on the challenge, so many positive ways to have spun this into positive PR vs flipping out and cussing off an excited user, and Ingo is the most resilient marketer I've seen in some time.

Best part being he's not even aware of it and neither is the internal team there.

Teksonik for you to be this one sided even after seeing all this through is silly, previous to this it was nothing but praise from you.

EDIT: And FTR I'm not wishing this fails, I'm just seeing true colors and reacting and can't participate. If anything I hope Mike/team learns from this and you guys grow into a mutual respect position and flourish. The person/people make the biz not the skins.

Ingo's skin is not that bad for a first try - considering a good sample of KVR posts on the subject would give the impression quite a few people have never purchased the product because of the default GUI. I'd argue it might still be an improvement, but that's just one person's opinion.

It's been both fun and little sad watching the fireworks though.

Let me get this straight....you're actually supporting the "underdog" Ingo ? Sounds like you're insulting him worse than anyone. With friends like you who needs enemies.

At this point I don't really care anymore. I've done what I can to help AQ. The Mods can lock this thread and when another real gui artist releases another great skin I'll post it in another thread.

All I can say to you and Ingo is........grow a set.

:D Now that I'm 'here' in life - I operate out of philanthropy, empathy, humility. This isn't about supporting or not supporting Ingo, he's just the person that happens to be there right now as ironic as it is. Not a hard choice really - trying to skin something beautiful as many times as it takes creatively, for someone I grow to understand doesn't deserve it and or he might shit on me for trying to help him, make, more, money, and, succeed.

If you can sit there and tell the dude 'just go away', and start talking to me/others like this just because I recognize he needs to be humbled but you don't, and Mike can say the things he say's to passionate users, it doesn't look good re 'success'.

You would never talk to others this way if you have made it imo. Being nice, TLC<>people/biz, love, kumbayaaaaa if you have to, success breeds success, misery attracts and loves company. Law of attraction you're going to have a lot of negativity around you for a long time and this synth project included.

EDIT: I see what you did there - It takes balls to stand up for what you believe, not regurgitate what an admiral thinks and flip on people at the first sign of having a heart - and then edit your post (heh, and re-edit it to add it back in now)..

I'm out though, hope they DON'T close the thread, and you guys recover beautifully.

Best of luck.
