I like you guys and the product and (for sure) it obviously doesn't cost a fortune.
Having said that, I'm not motivated to update my copy without some demo time. How many others in my position (v2 owners or whatever) may also feel that way? No idea. I'm not the kind of guy to just make up stats that support something I want out of thin air... so... no clue. Maybe very few.
If it was my main host I'd buy into the rather inexpensive update without thinking much about it but because it's really not, not so much without at least some cursory demo time. The version I own still works so, it's all good.
I was going to (after making a polite email request) try to solicit the Win installer from an owner, since it goes into demo mode without a license but after thinking more about it, I decided not to do that, to respect the company's wishes and just leave it be.

Hi Ben:BenLoftis wrote:Hi Fernando,
I know our demo policy is different than most companies. Perhaps this is because we are primarily an "audio mixer" company, not a "software" company.
Considering the number of Mixbus systems that we have sold in the last month, I think the reports of problems are very reasonable. As you can imagine, someone who pays for a product will be sure to point out the flaws, unlike someone who tries a demo. This is to everyone's advantage. We are motivated, and obligated, to try to make things work for everyone who buys Mixbus.
Our customers can ( usually! ) expect us to solve problems for them very quickly; either with a workaround or a code fix. We've already published 2 updates to solve problems that our customers have reported on our forum. Because a lot of the work happens in the open-source realm, we can be very open about problems and how they are being addressed. I'm very happy with the open communication we have developed for Mixbus.
Best,
-Ben
Thanks for your polite answer
And I'm sure this is not a matter of life or death for you, so... Think about it

My feelings exactly, although I obviously don't personally know if it will help them or hurt them sales wise and me implying that it would help might come off a little self serving.
The odd part to me is that (apparently) "demo mode" is already built into it. I assume they did that because these days all things on the net get eventually shared or posted or Torrented in some way and they didn't want people using it for free, which makes sense, not to just give away your hard work.
I'm ok with the occasional tone or whatever it does in demo mode. I just wanted to get a feel for the changes (and relative stability) for myself, and not rely on the opinions of others in that regard so much.

Still having this issues?summer2000 wrote:I purchased Mixbus 3 for $79. I never owned Mixbus 2. Not a single one of my VST FX and instrument plugins work in Mixbus 3 64 bit. You heard right...not one, and I have a ton of plugins.
PS. Anybody else on Win can confirm this issues with plugins?

Ben, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos with Raines Broadcasting, great stuff there!
But now this: You can say what you want regarding demos - spin it until the moon turns to cheese, but your position is indefensible. And do not take this as any sort of insult... Please listen to me. I care about Mixbuss and would like to see it keep improving. It it so simple...
First, if you are truly confident in your product, you will want people to try it out. Heck, you might even implore people to try it out...if you are confident in it. Are you?
Secondly, in today's audio software climate, the notion of a demo is simply taken for granted. Let's say a potential customer, a younger person perhaps, sees Mixbuss and thinks, "Hey, this looks dope, I wanna try this out". And then they look for the demo, and whoa, dude!!! **GASP**!!! There...is... none. "Waddaya mean there is none"?
And you have lost a customer. They could care less that Harrison consoles were used on big records in the past. Think about that...
Third, Mixbuss is unique, and alot of folks - including myself, think the idea of a high quality dedicated mixing app is really good, really special.
There should be more of em'! But it is this very uniqueness which more than anything, screams out for a demo!
Tell me Ben, why you cannot hear what I am saying, and what so many other posters have said.
Mixbuss was originally $250.00. Now, $80.00. Why? For Heaven's sake...
Grizzellda's 2 cents.

It seems everything has an issue with this company. I tried to register on the forum and got a bogus message about my IP address or email being associated with spam! I hate those dialog boxes that ask 4 you to type what you see in a box and it says it's wrong. I Had to do it a few times. I don't know if that triggered a spam alert. It said to contact them or try again later. I used another email and it said I registered twice and will disable the accounts even though it said I was a spammer with the first attempt, so how can I have any accounts to disable?BenLoftis wrote:Mixbus v3 : "Interim Release" 3.0-1508 is now available on our user forum (http://mixbus.harrisonconsoles.com/forum). You must be a registered forum user to see the "Interim Release" category.
This release fixes some issues with ASIO soundcards and VST plugins on Windows that our users reported.
On Mac, it fixes IK Multimedia "Kontakt" and "Reaktor" instruments.
Let me know what you think!

This is why this company needs a user area- so you can access your products and any new versions they release. I didn't receive any email notice about an interim release!

No refunds after you purchase, i had second thoughts initially when i bought my licence and felt it was an impulse purchase so asked for a refund.
Now that I'm stuck with it, I started finding i can definitely find a use for it and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it all worked together. The mixing console emulation reminds me of Reasons mixer somewhat which is fun.
Support seems pretty friendly though!

Actually V2 is an excellent performer given that it can only use one core of any cpu. I use it on a Q6600 cpu - each track takes around 1% of one core. Given that each track has an eq and a compressor built in (which beat the snot out of any other software eqs/comps I've ever heard) this is nothing short of sensational to me. Most crashes are caused by plugins - not MB itself. I've done a lot of plugin testing with MB2 and have built a working environment that has resulted in many completed client mixes and no crashes for a good few months.TheoM wrote:sorry but mixbuss 2 was KNOWN to be a terrible performer and crash ALOT..
I can't speak for MB3 as I haven't bought it but MB2 certainly is a very stable and efficient product if you put the effort in.
