Just rendered this, no issues so far. I also played it for 1 minute, again no issues on my end.

hmmm, It will drop out on me after a couple of minutes (less than 5) at buffer size 128, quicker with higher buffer settings.

To go back to 2.6, do I have to uninstall 2.7 first, or is installing over the top of 2.7 ok and without issues ? What is the recommended procedure ? Can the new presets be used within 2.6 ?

No they can not be used with 2.6

I don't think this has to do with v2.6 vs v2.7 difference.

Have you also tried rendering like I did? Does that work fine ?

I rendered the short midi part, it was fine, then I just duplicated it to make it around 6 minutes long, it rendered fine. Then I just played back the 6 minute one in Reaper and it dropped out at around 5 minutes.

[Edit] And of course if I try to render after it has dropped out, as above, all I get is silence

Ok, here is what is happening, and I don't know why I haven't noticed this before, except for that I just didn't think to look, just thought SynthMaster had like stopped responding or something. But the when the 'dropout' occurs the master volume on SynthMaster is resetting to 0, if I turn it back up of course sound is still playing. Even just loading it up and walking away and coming back 5 or 10 minutes later, the master volume on SynthMaster will be reset to 0. Any ideas ?

Ok, if I right click on the Master Volume dial and click 'remove midi link with cc7' it seems to stop the Master Volume being reset to 0, I have had it looping for 15 minutes now and it's still going. Bear in mind I am just a simple guitarist, I don't care to much for all this midi voodoo, I just like to use sounds and presets created by others, and make a few simple adjustments to parameters here and there to suit my needs, I'll never create my own sounds, or do any heavy editing of presets, don't have the time or inclination to learn, I would rather spend my time playing guitar and writing songs.

Having said that, could you if possible, in simple terms explain to me why/what the 'remove midi link with cc7' does, and why it had the effect it did for me ? and if there is any issues with removing it ? I notice that the factory/expansion presets I used in an older project also had the 'remove midi link with cc7' done, so that is why that project played without issue.

30 minutes and counting, no dropout/Master Volume reset, so I guess that was the cause of the issue anyway

Midi CC# 7 is for Volume control. Do you have a midi controller of any kind hooked up ? Maybe it's sending a CC value of Zero at some point causing Synthmaster's Master Volume to be set to zero ? That's about all I can think of.......if you do have a midi controller hooked up and it has a volume pedal that might be malfunctioning. Do you have an Automation Envelope setup in Reaper on that track ?

Midi controller keyboard, no volume pedal, no automation, it would just happen by loading the synth to a new blank project, nothing else, then walking away and coming back 5 or 10 minutes later to find the Master Volume reset to 0, track not even playing as there was nothing to play. Wouldn't happen with any other Synth as stated back up in the thread earlier. But I have been looping for almost a hour and a half now with the 'remove midi link with cc7' selected without issue, where as before it wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes.

This is probably a very dumb question, so forgive me in advance, but if I download v2.7.3 will it automatically replace 2.7.2 on my computer? Or do I need to uninstall 2.7.2 first?

That's the way I have been doing it, installing over top. Also note there is a much smaller 'update' file.

SynthMaster AND SynthMaster Player updated to v2.7.6
