Spectral FFT reverb

Hey folks
I'm looking for a spectral (FFT) reverb plugin.
The only spectral reverb I know that is excusively working in the frequency domain is the reverb module available in SpectrumWorx, but it's pretty basic in term of parameters and I'd like to explore more that special kind of reverb.
Any ideas & suggestions?
Cheers

you are perhaps seeking a convolution reverb.
"spectral" doesn't really mean much unless discretising between processes. most (all?) of the presented convolution reverbs use fft convolution (convolution can be performed in the time or frequency domain).

Thanks for the precision and infoxoxos wrote:you are perhaps seeking a convolution reverb.

An FFT reverb can be interesting because you can drastically change the tone/color of the reverb by change the bands to 128, 256, 512, etc like the basic one in SpectrumWorx.
Any frequency domain convolution reverb to suggest maybe?

Reads like MeldaProduction's MMultiBandConvolution was built specially for you!Neon Breath wrote: An FFT reverb can be interesting because you can drastically change the tone/color of the reverb by change the bands to 128, 256, 512, etc like the basic one in SpectrumWorx.

I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if Melda MMultiBandConvolution is working in the frequency domain (FFT) though. Can't find any mention of that specification on the website page. I'll give it a try and explore it.

I'd assume anything doing convolution is working in the frequency domain. Time domain convolution is possible, but AFAIK it's too CPU expensive to be practical and the results are equivalent to frequency domain convolution anyway.

Put the spectral plugin of choice after a reverb plugin

I love spectrumworx but I'm pretty sure it's just a reverb algorithm they put in there that doesn't do Anything a normal reverb does. It's just cool because you can put it in an awesome spectral processing chain and choose what part of the frequency spectrum it effects. I may be wrong about this but I've never heard that module make a sound that couldn't be achieved with any freebie reverb around. There are spectral blurring tools that in combination with some delays can make some really neat reverb style textures. Spectral monkeyage does this and I think there is a module in spectrumworx that can give the same kind of effect. If you can find a second hand copy of NI spectral delay you can make some neat reverby things with that by Turing off the sync and modulating some parameters.

That's a pretty cool and clever idea actuallyVariKusBrainZ wrote:Put the spectral plugin of choice after a reverb plugin

This + the fact that by changing the FFT bank size from 128 to 8192 you can drastically change the tone & color of the reverb, that's what I like. So I was wondering if there were other similar spectral reverbs existing, but it doesn't look like it.Ah_Dziz wrote: It's just cool because you can put it in an awesome spectral processing chain and choose what part of the frequency spectrum it effects.

Staying within Spectrumworx, try the Imploder module. I think of it as being a more sophisticated implementation of spectral reverb. Some really interesting per-band gated sounds can be had by playing around with the gate and limit parameters. Comes in both PV and standard flavours.
Just make sure you don't mix it up with the Exploder module or it's goodbye ears!

I would guess that changing the FFT size has an effect on the lengths of the delays inside the algorithm and that's where the drastic change in tone comes from. Since you seem to enjoy playing with modular stuff I would recommend making a reverb in Reaktor or some other modular doodad and then setting a parameter to scale the delay network globally. This can yeild pretty awesome results even if it's not the same thing exactly.Neon Breath wrote:This + the fact that by changing the FFT bank size from 128 to 8192 you can drastically change the tone & color of the reverb, that's what I like. perhaps use a guitar ampsim based impulse loader for the reverb IR, i.e. Studio Devil and TSE X50 I know come with FFT band selection of the length of the IR that is loaded. Those are usually tailored for shorter cab EQ modeled IRs though, and I have never tried reverb or any other IR through them for that matter.
