No..The VC76 is their take on the 1176...

The 670 emulation by NI/Softube is the Vari Comp - from the Premium Tube Series and it's a beauty..

The Premium Tube Series is really special...

The Passive EQ - their take on the Manley Massive Passive - is exceptional
OK thanks - that one confused me because it says it's the "first-ever software emulation" but I knew there were several Fairchild emulations so that must be marketing speak then.
Are you sure the Vari Comp is based on the Fairchild 670? I've been comparing pictures of them both and they seem to have totally different controls.
Vari Comp I thought is supposed to be the Manley Vari Mu compressor. But the Fairchild 670 is a vari mu design compressor so they have some commonalities like lots of warmth and color. One of Slate's comps I read at least at some point was mentioned to be insipired by the concept of a hybrid comp of a Vari Mu and Fairchild.

They now charge separately for "AU + VST" and "AAX". So if you click the buy button you get that choice, and it should be cheaper if you don't need the AAX version, it's €35 for me.

The 500 bundle at this discount is tempting... not sure I need it though.

FC-70 is a really nice comp, but it is designed to be a representation of a new Fairchild and not a dusty old vintage unit. Very smooth, and highly underrated!

MJUC?

I would think this thing renders all other variable mu emulations irrelevant and obsolete, especially if also considering its ridiculously low price?

I mean: why would you not just get MJUC and be done with it? (or otherwise take the plunge and invest in DeeComp to get the real deal :hihi:)

it's not an 1:1 emulation - it features three different vari-mu compressors (yes, it's really three fantastic compressors in one), of which MK1 is fairchildish - the obvious difference to a 670: it lacks the individual channel control and Mid/Side functionality and offers two modes: "comp" and "limit"

Soundwise it pisses all over the T-racks' Fairchild emulation though...

Try MJUC - you really need to get it anyway. It#s head and shoulders above everything else.

Re EDM/ aggressive POP:

the tracks I work with almost exlusively consist of acoustic and electro-acoustic recordings and besides V³ MJUC is by far the best thing that ever happened to my mixes.

what's V3?

To be heads and shoulders above the slate one (which is already in my subscription) well it would have to be out of this world. Even for the little price ($40 in my currency and an intro offer), why spend the money if i don't feel it beats the slate? We shall see with some head to heads.

Edit. Oh once again there is no demo of the full thing.. same with his other plugins, and then there is no refund policy and he wants 5 euros to transfer.. I bought DC8C purely from the ravings of this forum and never used it once in a mix - and i had to pay to offload it. No, i don't care if the plugin cost 2 euros to buy, i simply do not support no demo and no refund policy - simple as that - so that's off the list. Please don't try talk me into it unless you are willing to re imburse the 24 euros if i don't like it ;)

as far as my edm is concerned, nothing will ever replace the glue for me for that. No point in even trying to persuade me as it won't happen. it's automatically on master bus of any song i do with a 4/4 kick drum (or the ik ssl which is my equal favourite).
there are now a few youtube videos (not to mention the most amazing love-fest) from various users at GS
