Bliss 2 sampler

From my initial tests, the Engine Quality needs to be set to High Sample Interpolation for it to sound anywhere near the original synth. At that point, Bliss uses more CPU than the instrument I sampled.
George, do you think it's possible for you to lower the CPU usage of High Sample Interpolation by as much as 75%?

Perhaps the sampled instrument has very low note interval? Let's say 1 sample every 12 notes. That may be a reason of quality degradation. Ideally we should get 1 sample per single note with 3 or 4 velocity ranges, which may lead to huge memory usage but exact fidelity and no loss of quality even using the least CPU intensive interpolation algorithm. I'd recommend a tradeoff let's say 1 sample every 4 notes.Uncle E wrote:From my initial tests, the Engine Quality needs to be set to High Sample Interpolation for it to sound anywhere near the original synth. But yes, there is room for enhancements. Actually producing SINC interpolation that isn't CPU intensive is a very difficult task, and we may implement another optimised and very low CPU DSP on future builds.

Great! Now I just have to figure out how to make them hold their "distance" to each otherGeorge wrote:Add? It's already thereLejurai wrote:One thing I'd add (if it already isn't possible and I just don't find it), is that when I load a stereo sample, I could delete left or right channel and it'd become mono. Especially useful when you want to seek for a waveform from a sample to play with
I also didn't notice any possibility to hook sample start, loop start and loop end to one button (or sync them to move at the same time).
Is it possible to add?Check Macro edit (Effects bar EDIT button). You can assign knobs to smaple start and loop start/end positions.
Now when I set them to, let's say "one sample away" from each others (sample and loop start from loop end) and hit them to macro one. What then happens when I turn the knob is that those all jump to same position and even a tiny nudge of the knob throws the markers on the other end of the sample

It should easily managed by modifying min/max rage field values.Lejurai wrote:Great! Now I just have to figure out how to make them hold their "distance" to each other

Feature request: Virtual Keyboard with color layout to check where the samples are mapped.
For me this would be absolute awesome, so you can remember where I put this sample, where other one

I can confirm that's already on the to-do: The keyboard mapping editor window. But coloured keys were not, so thanks for your suggestion!MillerSam wrote:Feature request: Virtual Keyboard with color layout to check where the samples are mapped.

Thanks George! That solved it! I'm going to buy this.George wrote:Perhaps the sampled instrument has very low note interval? Let's say 1 sample every 12 notes. Hmmm no, demo can't export but should load everything. Does the akp load with other tools? If possible send it over to bliss@discodsp.comfmr wrote:I downloaded the 32-bit version, tried to load an AKP file, and nothing happened. Are the importing functions disabled in the demo version?

Tested (and reported) but got no joy with either Bitwig 1.1.10 or Ardour4. Is there a Linux host known to run the demo ?
Thanks,

Renoise will run Bliss perfectly. If possible send over the crash logs located at Documents > discoDSP > Bliss folder so we can figure out what's happening.StudioDave wrote:Tested (and reported) but got no joy with either Bitwig 1.1.10 or Ardour4. Is there a Linux host known to run the demo ?

Yes. It is from the official S5000 Akai library, and loads without problems in any other program I have that are able to read this format. There must be something wrong then. I tried SFZ and SF2 so far, and they load without problems. I'll try EXS too.George wrote:Hmmm no, demo can't export but should load everything. Does the akp load with other tools? EDIT: EXS loads, but doesn't find the samples. These are in the standard location. I think you should implement some kind of safeguard to ask for the sample location when the program can't find the samples. BTW: I also found some incompatible SFZ files (but this is something I've been used to, since SFZ format varies so much). But the ones I created with ESC all work.

Ok thanks for pointing up, I'll place a check for that. Probably the AKP LUA script file has some bug.fmr wrote:Yes. Sampling a VSTi didn't work either. I can load the plug-in, define what I want, but when I hit OK... nothing happens.
And don't forget to see my remark about EXS too.
