really? lower class? come'on!

Spec's decided to give special pricing to very loyal few of their customers that bought new products and had spent more money than other users, giving them a break.

I have all Spec products. I have a 2nd hand transferred Stylus RMX, I didn't qualify for VIP pricing of $199.00.

I shopped around and got the Omni 2 upgrade at $204.00. $5 difference than VIP pricing. Big woop.

BIG WOOP.

the product is exactly the same - everyone receives the same product in the end. if it's full price Omni 2, if it's upgraded, if it's upgraded transferred. Omni 2 is the same product in the end.

your 2nd hand transferred license is a FULL license of a transferred product. any upgrade to that license is considered transferred licenses as well. why is that hard to understand.

Specs has always stated that any registered license is eligible for upgrades and patches.

so the concern is that you didn't get $5 in savings and should get some savings next time. tough, not the way it's gunna happen.

Thank you.

Ultimately, all of this comes down to one thing. If you buy second hand, the user experience with the product does not change in any way. That is what matters most.

So the VIP thing was merely a discount? I wasn't aware of that (I hadn't paid much attention since i knew Omni2 was well out of my budget), but with a name like VIP i assumed there would be some kind of priority service, clearly i had misinterpreted things.

To be honest my main issue is with the NFR status of second-hand licenses. Ordinarily this is something i resent but kinda understand, if however a transferred license holder pays the hefty full price for an upgrade one would hope for some kind of resale ability, even if that is only the right to sell the upgrade.

With no student discounts or sales offered (again, understandable) this leaves the second-hand market the only place where someone on a tight budget might be able to afford the product. Denying these customers certain rights is consistent with operating a tiered class system.

Yeah I don't have much of a problem with not getting the VIP discount because of a transfer license, but I do think that charging a 50 dollar transfer fee and making it NFR is over the top. I have never thought about selling Omnisphere but I naturally assumed that upgrading to V2 for 250 would make it no longer NFR, perhaps I'm wrong about that. Probably, given Spectrasonics harsh policies. For me, no big deal since I don't think I'd sell it. But I'd still find it a surprising policy.

Actually the term VIP is a tad confusing in SpectrasonicsLand, because alongside this much discussed useage, you also have VIP patches for users of both Trilian and Omnisphere. And the meaning of the term is different there AFAIK - anyone with any version of both products does get those VIP patches.

Spectrasonics have a slightly different licence policy to many instrument makers because they also regard their instruments as sample libraries of recorded works (and indeed, the include a lot of sample library content in their instruments).

I don't know why anyone would assume a transferred, or NFR, licence status would change into a different status because you've added some additional stuff to it - it's still the original licence, just authorised to run the most recent version.

Except that they HAVEN'T paid a "hefty full price for an upgrade." It STILL works out substantially CHEAPER than buying it new.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

The hidden waveforms that omnisphere uses in hardsync, what shape are they?

I was trying to modulate sine table, I think, with the hardsync but it sounded noisey. I had to filter the output to get it a bit cleaner.

Exactly. Again, i don't know any company which upgrades your upgraded license to a non-transferred "like new" one. Doesn't exist to my knowledge.

The full price of the upgrade being $250, more than the so-called VIP price. Of course its cheaper than buying Omni2 on its own, it's an upgrade!!! Still a hefty price though in my opinion.

People on the net:
Bah, what a hefty upgrade price!
Bah, my transferred license upgrade to the latest version doesn't act like when i bought it new!
Bah, even when i upgrade my NFR license it stays NFR!
People in the real world:
Hm, considering the pros and cons i decide to buy it.
Hm, considering the pros and cons i decide not to buy it.
;)

Nothing better than a place to make politics. Not that i cannot understand Echoes in the attic's point. But the rest seems a "bit" unreasonable to me. Especially when you consider the changes from version 1 to version 2: http://www.kvraudio.com/product/omnisph ... cs/details

Hi James .... Omni 2 is the 'apple' of my eyes.... Just hope Apple is not eyeing Spectrasonic.. Peace..

First of all loving Omnisphere 2 on my desktop.

With that said:
When can we expect an update to allow all of the many folks who use Muse Receptors to be able to install Omnisphere 2? Apparently Omnisphere 1 worked great in the past, and is on the list of compatible plugins.

We've been told the ball is in your court. You can see a thread about it right here on KVR in:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5&t=437623

Any updates yet?

How is the best way for us Muse Receptor users to convince the powers that be at Spectrasonics that we really need to make this happen?

Thanks,
Dirk

The shape of the synced wave shouldn't really matter, eh? Just the fundamental. Could be a sine.

Here's another Receptor user really hoping You guys could make this a priority. For us touring musicians the Receptor is the perfect solution and Omni 2 would be KILLER. I've been using your stuff in my Receptors since Atmosphere and hope to do so for many years to come..!
