Hello KVR people,

This is my first post. I've been a producer for quite a long time, but recently I started to create some music in more serious way. At first I liked brostep, big room and all this stuff, but I slightly changed to more housy thing (in likes of Tom Staar, Kryder, Merk & Kremont...), and nowadays I'm a lot into trance and electro.

As this, I created Darklight, a trancy-electro-big room song, as I like from Mark Sixma, Jorn Van Deynhoven, W&W, Orjan Nilsen... but with this little "darky" side of trance that I loved from the initial time.

New version of the song, with a little tweaks in the mixing and adding a ride :tu:

I hope you guys can give some feedback. Appart from that, should I send it to labels and DJ's? ANY kind of critic is full aprecciated, good or bad.

The track has like 40 tracks (aprox) and overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

PS: I don't know why, but it sounds slightly different from what I hear in my FL Studio. :?

PS1: Old version here (almost the same, kick and snare a little bit lower): http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/Nkb3abat/file.html

Listening with KRK KNS8400 headphones here on my Macbook Pro.

It kind of starts abruptly, but maybe this is the style of music? I think it could probably use with a intro of some kind and then maybe jump into that cool beat.

Some more ideas here, which are probably not even relevant to your target genre. Anyhow here's what I would like to hear.

You know have a sort of ambient calm intro with maybe some vocal samples of some guy talking about how's he gonna shoot the other guy or something, then fade out -> gunshot and bring the main beat in. (It doesn't have to be violent, that was just a suggestion lol)

The reason i say this, is because it has the energy but it kind of needs that rise up energy into the main beat. This is of course just how I would do it, but I've heard great tracks where it just starts really aggressive and still works.

I like that middle part, i think it fits nice. (You could bring that vocal sample conversation back here, and maybe slice it up into a beat and then go back into the main beat) It's nice how it slows down and then starts to build up again, but it almost feels like a whole different song when my brain wants to hear that edgy groove in the beginning. Melodically this is also the nicest part of the track imo.

Overall soundwise it sounds ok, but i think the kick & snare drum needs to stand out a bit more in the mix, especially towards the end. I'm not really one to talk about mixing/mastering because I'm not the greatest so i'll just leave that up to you.

Personally it doesn't really sound like Trance/Electro or big room but more "Industrial electro" to my ears which is good because i kind of like that style. I DO listen to quite a bit of electro and progressive house so i can at least say i think i sort of know what I'm talking about here.

I like it, but it could use more variation in beginning.

Good work.

Best Regards,

Well, yeah. It's not classical trance actually, neither electro. I dunno a little hard to define, I like to combine styles.

Uh for the starting... I never thinked in something actually in all my works. It's just start the kick and It's done hahah.

I had a little pain in the ass with the mixing, maybe I try to lower the kick when I "re-mixed" again.

The intro also make me sweat, It's always the most difficult part for me. Maybe I could make it shorter hahah.

Thanks for the feedback, much aprecciated! :)

Interesting song. I agree with VORYT3X that it starts very abrupt. The synths and sfx are very nice through out! One thing to be wanted is more melodically pleasing content (Following chords/scale etc...)

It's a nice track though! Feels like an early 21st century psytrance/(as you said)dark trance track!
