Bliss 2 sampler

Wrote an email that mentioned a couple things and they may already have been mentioned here but figured I'd refloat them just in case!
-Tooltip readout for some buttons and things is wrong
-When I have a midi controller routed to bliss for modwheel/pitch control, two voices are recieved by Bliss for one keypress
-Edit window pops up behind DAW/ (dunno if this is fixable on your end). Not using separate window anymore anyway, but a clearer way to get from edit window back to main may be needed.
Some suggestions:
-Different colors in editor window. the black and white inversion is too bland and frankly hard to make out whats going on when certain waveforms are highlighted.
-filter cutoff options for delay feedback. only LP option seems nearsighted.
-MIDI learn for root note and note/zone range! Simple but amazingly helpful feature!
Also curious if pitch shift feature via wheel, or even just a feature in editor, is planned? That is, pitch shift without stretching ;p

Sorry but the SaFfron GUI looks really datedglokraw wrote:George wrote:Perfect SF2 import will take some time of course. But overall results have been very positive considering it's beta 1.alvfaria wrote:Soundfonts I tryied doesn't work. Single patches or banks. Just clipping and horrible noises. Or simple doesn't load. The SF2 support is the only single reason I could buy this one.
Any feedback is welcome! What would the GUI need to get prettier? And the GUI is ugly as hell, sorry...ArtVera!
(look at the Fretted Synth 'SaFfron' 2f2 player gui that she created)
Bliss GUI isn't perfect but at least it's looking forward

Totolitoto is right imo only dated is still understated.. ..sorry, but that kind of convulted design would be terrible to look at today. Sure, no need to mud fight it's a matter of taste anyway.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I'am afraid I do not understand it (without a manual) ...
How do I load a SF2 soundfont? (I tried via "Load Program" to load a SF2 file from Artvera's Golden Aset but Bliss didn't indicate that anything was loaded)
When I try the same with "Load Sample" Bliss just crashes ...
And how do I load a VSTi plugin within Bliss ...??
Questions, questions ...
(Win 7, 32 bit)
(BTW. I like the GUI, no need to 'beautify' it ...)

Click the V widget below the DSP logo
Choose 'Load program' from the popup
The two fields should populate with the
soundfont (or .sfz or .zbp data most but not all soundfonts work)
Click the triangle widgets to cycle through combi-soundfonts.
Now click the Edit button by the second field.
An editor panel will open displaying the waveform.
Cheers

To load a vsti, click Edit button
In the edit panel, menu Sampling--> Load plugin
menu Sampling--> Open Plugin editor
choose a preset, minimize plugin gui if desired.
menu Sampling-->Sample plugin
a panel opens, set intervals etc and click OK
Wait while the sampling occurs behind the scenes.
When finished, the waveform will be displayed, ready to edit.
Cheers

Thanks Glokraw, yes I found it.
(The edit window was not showing in VSTHost 32-bit. I had to Alt-Tab to it. Also when I click the main window of Bliss the edit window disappears)
But what I did find out is that Bliss does not function correctly in 'User' mode!
I had to run VSTHost in 'Admin' mode (which I'm not used to do) for it to run correctly (now it DID load the SF2 files)
EDIT: Well it's not really that bad. Once I copied the 'Bliss' folder to my User/documents everything worked fine ...
(Going to buy it now ...)

For using samples, click the triangle widget left of the Edit button.
Lets say you have Dimension Pro, and a Piano folder
has flac waveforms, 21 through 108, matching the number of keys on a piano.
Load sample 108. and play middle C, you will hear a very high note.
Choose 'replace sample' from the loader widget, and choose 21.
Play middle C, and this time you hear a very low note.
So you can use this to advantage according to your keyboard's range,
creating a new desired sound/effect. In this case, playing flac21
on the lowest key of an 88 note controller,
sounds like a sci-fi engine room rumble, then add delay and reverb yadayada
Glad things are singin 'n dancin'

Well, not entirely ...
Cannot seem to get the effects working. I tried mixing them in via the 'Effects' panel left below, but it does not seem to have any, 'effect' ...

The Edit button to the right of 'Effects' opens a panel.
George should be done with tea and scones any minute now...

Found the magic fx button: turn the modwheel up,
the one to the right of the pitchbend wheel.
Very funny, George, hidin' things from the Yanks, in plain sight!

Colors can be edited at themes folder. It's a very simple process of you know a bit of HTML code. It will be detailed in the manual to be released next week.LuxLucid wrote:Some suggestions:

Beta 2 will enhance VSTi host / sampling. I'd recommend using a 32-bit host like AU Lab instead. It's free.psyko66 wrote: Thanks but crash Logic Pro X 10.1.1

We have managed to get a dramatic CPU optimization specially for Mac users in beta 2
Will announce it here on it's ready!
