what kind of mixer do you have? if it has a direct out, you can use that. a lot of mixers that have inserts but no direct outs, you can also do this as well.Teksonik wrote:Way off topic but hey it's a free bump..........![]()
Can anybody recommend an inexpensive way to split the signal from my guitar ? I'd like one out to go to my Johnson J Station and the other out to go into my mixer then to the input on my sound card (or directly into the soundcard depending on output signal).
I'd like to run the J Station and Amplitube 3 at the same time layered. There will be some latency compensation issues I'm sure but nothing that can't be adjusted I imagine.
I've done a search but all the units I've seen were way too pricey just to run this experiment. The two sounds may not mesh at all....or they may sound awesome together...only one way to tell.
Anyway any recommendations ?

Thanks, I have two mixers but sadly neither has direct out only line out. I've got one hooked up to the line ins of my Delta ap192 and use it for bypassing the J Station and playing just AT3. I use the S/PDIF out of the J Station to the digital in of the Delta.
So all I need is a way to split the guitar signal without degrading it into two instrument level outs. Those units exist but are out of my price range at the moment.......

Just bought Amplitube 3 in the sale, now looking at the Mesa Boogie. Been pretty happy with Guitar Rig Pro til now, but figured it was time to try out some new stuff.
Now here's the thing - I've been away from base, haven't even downloaded Amplitube yet even though I bought it. Could some kind soul distill the wisdom here? Is Mesa leagues ahead of the metal stuff in Amplitube? Is Mesa good for stuff other than metal / rock? Ultimately I need to be able to pull off pretty much anything so metal is useful to me, but my own tastes are more indieish. Currently obsessed with getting a sound like Danish band Mew, but that's just icing on the cake. Given all that, are there other IK packs well regarded too?
Final question - do sales come along often? Would have to get Mesa blind to get it by the 31st, but don't mind waiting til, say, Black Friday if it's a known good thing. Thanks all.

Morley ABY should work for you. I use the ABC box myself. If you go that route, get the blue one, not the orange George Lynch one. Electro-Harmonix makes the Switchblade + which works decently enough. I haven't noticed any signal degradation, although I use an overdrive before the splitter which might help the signal level. (It helps the software amps too.Teksonik wrote:Thanks, I have two mixers but sadly neither has direct out only line out. I don't know if I go so far as to say leagues ahead but the good thing about the AT Custom Shop is you can demo everything for yourself and see if it fits your needs..........noiseboyuk wrote: Is Mesa leagues ahead of the metal stuff in Amplitube?

It's at least one league ahead

Haha ! We could say (at least I'd go that far) that Metal is playing in amateur league with no budget, while MESA/Boogie is playing professional.

Great stuff, thanks folks. I'll have a good play with the basic edition and demo the custom shop stuff, and look out for sales if I need extra bits and pieces.

Depends on the sound you want and how you go about using them. I've been able to get good sounds out of the Fender MH500 amp.noiseboyuk wrote: Is Mesa leagues ahead of the metal stuff in Amplitube?

Good to hear. In general, just a reminder that today is the last day to get the special pricing on AmpliTube MESA/Boogie if anybody is interested in that.

The sheer number of amps and stomps in Amplitube is staggering but I think the modelling they've done from Slash forward is exceptional. You can always use the stomps from AT Metal in front of the Mesa Amps. GR has some unique stomps like ring modulator which you can also use in front of AT.noiseboyuk wrote:Just bought Amplitube 3 in the sale, now looking at the Mesa Boogie. Ola Englund took AmpliTube MESA/Boogie for a spin too, and it sounds great:
