I've searched high and low, and I'm a little stuck, does anybody know of any pci cards that have more than 1/2 channels of aes/ebu input? the only ones I can find are the Lynx ones and some workarounds with seperate converters and such. The only AES/EBU cards I find are for digital mixers :|

Recently DAL came out with the CDX-D8, found here

A lot Audio Cards do not use the proper symmetrical transmission. They rather offer a "professional" SPDIF variant using unsymmetrical coax...

Thanks Nuts, I hadn't seen that one yet, although still a bit pricey.

Kybernaut, not sure what you mean by this? By 'A lot of Audio Cards' do you mean this one in particular? I know barely anything about what AES/EBU is compared to say S/PDIF or ADAT (except ADAT was only intended to work at 48khz apparently). Is this something I should be on the lookout for?

Sorry, i have mistaken your posting...

If you want multichannel digital I/O you should watch out for ADAT interfaces... AES/EBU and SPDIF are stereo only...

I`m using adat with an old adat friendly RME card.
If I use my sound card to drive,(master),the adat converter,it will run at 44.1khz.

The converter on it`s own,using it`s internal clock, runs at 48khz.(driving/slaveing the RME card)

If your card has an optical in/out,(adat),I got away cheap by buying the "behringer"8 channel adat converter for $200.(about $220 now)

This converter uses the same ad/da dac converters that are in the alesis adat converter for more then twice the cost!

No sweat. Yeah, definitely cheaper than the Lynx stuff , though.

Call Phil at midi-classics.com to see what his prices are, getting directly from DAL will definitely be a lot more. He hooked me up with an RME card about $150 bucks cheaper than any other online dealer. Pretty lame website, but I always call and get his prices before making a purchase.

Maybe this from CreamWare might fit the bill. It can be configured to 2xADAT channelss (36 ins and outs, surely enough for anyone). There going at a good price at the moment.

thx for the replies everybody. I think there may have been some confusion though. Right now I am using a Presonus Digimax 96k connected through ADAT. Unfortunately the presonus only supports 96khz operation through the 4 stereo AES/EBU (there is also an s/pdif option). The DAL card looks like the best option so far. Thanks again for the suggestions, and of course, more are always welcome ;)

Just remembered another one, the Sek'd Prodif 88. The wierd thing is, other than the pcb colors, it looks to be the exact same card as the DAL. Same exact board layout...I would love to see the driver settings screens for both, cuz I'm betting those are the same as well.

Hmmmm, wonder what the price differences are.

Both cards have the same list price at midi-classics, $650. I'm guessing you'd be able to pick it up for much less than that.
