I´ve installed in my Dell PC (Win ME, only had USB 1.1) a new ´ALi PCI/USB 2.0 Open Host Controller card´. Now I´ve the following problem: After 10 or 15 minutes this card quits the function, no more data transfer is possible. I´ve tested it with 2 different devices. After a new startup it works again only for some time. Can it be that there are conflicts between the still existing USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 drivers? Should I first de-install the USB 1.1 drivers and then re-install the USB 2.0 ones? And where can I find the newest ALi drivers?
Help would be very much appreciated.

No, plenty of systems SHIP with USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports. My Asus board is that way. Sounds to me like a doa card. It warms up and dies. If you reboot, does it work, or do you have to wait an hour or so?

Make sure you configure your BIOS properly. You should be able to run 1.1 and 2.0 together with no problems. Many devices still need to use the 1.1 spec and most modern motherboards and cards allow it.
