For those wondering: the total download size is 800 MB. As was said before, the small download is just the downloader/installer (nicely done BTW.) .
For me it was an instant buy since it addresses several things I always found annoying in Reaktor.
And the Blocks DO sound awesome. :-)

Cheers,

Tom

So let me understand this, for those of us who own Reaktor 5.9.3
we still have to pay 99$ but no new Ensembles...right?

Thanks

quite relieved, as this is not an urgent upgrade for me. i'd be curious to see what experienced builders do with it, other than straight synth stuff

a good start :tu:

Right

But you get 30 Blocks to play with and using templates as provided by NI in the user area, putting together and modding a modular creation is easier than ever before :)

You are right Numanoid, i am not new to Reaktor, i am using it since before it was
even a Reaktor...1999 i think...f$%k it, i'll get it.

Hm, I'd update Komplete (I'm on 8), but it seems to still show that Komplete 10 still only comes with v5. Really NI? Are you going to make me wait until 11? It just doesn't seem to make sense to update just Reaktor, though the blocks thing puts it in a totally new category for me.

If you look at the Point Blank Video posted earlier in the thread, at the 2:08 mark you can see a player folder called Reaktor Blocks, and within that there appear to be 9 ensembles (Drive, Duality, Monark Mikro etc.) made by NI from Blocks and each has presets.

Video of these ensembles here:

My main concern is the Point Blank video shows cpu usage at 30-40% most of the time. Let's hope he has a Celeron ;)

Neat. Glad to see there's a more beginner-friendly set of modules to play with. But it still looks like you have to wire them up in the builder. I like hearing that anything plugs into anything, though. I just thought maybe some auto-connections via drag and stop of blocks might be nice to start quickly. I'm interested, either way. I love Reaktor, even if I can't think like a programmer. There's so much in this product for someone like me, it's totally worth the cost.

I remember all those west coast cali guys rocking reaktor in the mid nineties. Sutekh/kid 606/ immediate action label... man I got to go reinvestigate those releases. Before hawtin destroyed minimal crowd. Then Max MSP took over. Personally I've never delved into Reaktor but there have been quite a few times I thought about it. At 800+ megs I wonder if they have gone sample based oscillators like everyone else? I like the different algos from some of their best products like Monark. They seemed to have incorporated the best of the new stuff. Haven't hit the button yet but I'm thinking about it. Always was interested in reaktor as a stand alone. Most (not all) of their products have been based on the reaktor engine if it wasn't a sample player. It is a one stop shop software modular because the amount of time it has been developed. LOVE the audio modulation rate!

meh...is that it?
Can't help feel a bit like that

Without having tried Reaktor 6, I envision that mixing and matching modules, would be like in Loom, which I find very user friendly

By coincidence Loom also comes with 30 Blocks (editable modules)

whoa, whoa, whoa... you can arrange and match and tie together modules in LOOM? I had no idea.

Yeah i've always wanted to get into patching, the gui on the builder looks pretty intuitive from the screenshot and a lotr cleaner so i'd have no problem with that as long as there's a well written manual or tuts to get up and running but the modules from existing synths get's thejuices flowing.

Rounds driving Monark modules through a network of fx could be interesting. :)
