Simon Morrison wrote:Hi Matt,

I think you're missing the point.

The folks who spent $1,199.00 on RX 4 Advanced or $399.00 on the upgrade from RX 3 Advanced to RX 4 Advanced are expecting that any improvements to the Loudness module be delivered as an update to RX 4, versus delivering an improved $349.00 standalone module.

A majority of the post-production engineers who want a standalone loudness control product are actually RX 3/4 owners. For many, the decision to purchase/upgrade to RX 4 was based on the availability of the Loudness module.

With the last two RX Advanced updates, RX 2 > RX 3 and RX 3 > RX 4, owners paid $399.00 for each update, and received zero (0) upgrades during each product lifecycle.

The perception, based on pricing strategy, and non-delivery of product upgrades, is that there is a significant lack of concern for customer loyalty, and an overriding focus on profit.

Perhaps you could address this?

Thanks,

Simon

What a freaking bad joke. I'm out!!!
But I must say, I didn't need an update for v4. It runs quite fine. But I have issues with Insight and Ozone5. Especially Insight crashes Logic here and there, gladly not too often. I believe I've already sent hundreds of bug reports thru their own crash reporting app, that shows up automatically, and I even opened 2 support tickets directly thru my user account (owning like 6 plugins from them, for very good money). NADA, NOTHING, THAT'S IT.

Shame on you iZotope, for asking pro-level money, but giving pro-level-shit about your customer.

Unbelievable!!! There's no way I'll be paying money to upgrade AND lose the Loudness functionality (which I use very often). I'm out too. One step too far this time. Will stay with RX4 Advanced for as long as I can. Sickening. :(

It has become a subscription model, with an annual fee, in all but name.

What I have seen over the past couple of years is that there is no point in us bleating about it. It falls on deaf ears. A joint KVR/GS members' moratorium on Izotope upgrades might be the only thing that would get their attention.

They just should make RX as subscription. That'd be the same but more transparent. So they could give the users for 400 bucks a year all the new features. I know there are users, especially in post-production, where the new features are time and money savers.

If it could be a Max style subscription, where you only subscribe for the months you want to use it, rather than being tied into an annual subscription, then that would be great. Not sure the beancounters would see it that way though.

$30-40 a month for just the months we want to use it Izotope?

The Loudness module can be seen in the RX 5 screenshot on the product page: https://www.izotope.com/en/products/pos ... io-editor/

Hi Evanallen

Are you Izotope's latest lamb for the (KVR) slaughter?

Post

At the risk of being ripped limb from limb, I never used Loudness in RX4, so not bothered whether or not it's in RX5. I use Insight for all Loudness chores, and it works fine in PT. In fact it works so well, I can't imagine why I'd want the additional loudness module thing in their Post Production Suite.

The upgrade price for Advanced is quite high, but it's very much like NI's strategy - just upgrade every other version or so to get the best value. I think this rendering with handles thing might be too good to miss for me though, so I reckon I'll easily get enough value out of 5 - not the Post Production Suite though.

It's the KVR rep revolving door.

"Loudness" module has now been added (9/9/15) to the RX 5 product features page: https://www.izotope.com/en/products/pos ... /features/

This was apparently an omission when the product pages were first published.

I retract my original comment, and apologize for any confusion.

NOW, that makes much more sense and is much more customer friendly :D
Still, for me 300 quids are too much at the moment. I'll wait 2-3 more versions before I upgrade. RX is absolutely astonishing and great, but I don't need it often and RX4 Advanced covers everything for me at the moment.

Thanks Evan for clarifying! Indeed, we haven't removed Loudness module from RX 5 Advanced. This module has proved quite popular with dialogue editors who use it as the last step in the dialogue edit to position their dialogue around -23/-24.

With the advent of RX 5, we've added a lot of features, small and large, requested by many here and elsewhere, some as enhancements and some as new modules. Let me know if you have questions about any of them, based on the web pages! Also by request, we've introduced the Post Production Suite, for those who'd rather have every tool in one complete package, rather than separately. It includes some added bonuses from Pro Sound Effects and Groove 3 too.

Once RX 5 is available for download, we've also extended the free trial period from 10 to 30 days, which was another request I received via private emails from both KVR and Gearslutz to allow for proper use and evaluation of the new tools. I'm looking forward to hearing what you all think of the tools once you've had a chance to play around with them.

I would also like to reassure you that with the launch of RX 5, we'll continue to provide free technical support, as well as any necessary free updates and bug fixes, much like we did with RX 4.01. You want this to be more frequent.. I hear you.. we're in this together, and I thank you all for your continued feedback. There's no lambs or slaughter here!

Best,

Matt

As the perpetrator of said comment, my apologies, but could I politely request that you guys stick around and participate in the fora here. I'm sure you are very busy but you will do wonders for your company's image if you do. You might take a bit of a criticism at first but if you enter into meaningful and continuing dialogue then things will rapidly change (from my experience).

[From my own particular pressing interests, please could Brad (or somebody) participate regularly in the Iris 2 thread.]

Pretty please.
