Hey guys,

Certainly interesting if it's free.

Looking forward to your recordings :tu:

i've been using chipspeech for a while, great vocal synth
really liking the new Daisy voice in alter/ego
looking forward to seeing more voice banks for this

I've been playing with it and it is much much deeper than aquestone. It sounds really lovely for sure :D Just add a nice reverb and a little delay and this thing can sing quite beautifully and exotic.

I can only guess what this does, and I would think that I am guessing right considering Emef makes reference to vocal synths. Wow, it has a cool looking interface, may as well give it a whirl! You say you are using it? It sounds lovely you say? Looking forward to it! Thank you for posting :)

Are there sound samples available anywhere?

These are not samples.
Alter/Ego is a real-time phoneme synthesizer. The Daisy data-bank is 200MB.

If you mean example songs, the beta testers (including the voice provider's examples) are here:

That is exactly what I meant - thanks.

I know I'm gonna get hell for this post but I have to be honest about my feelings on all this Vocaloid stuff and not just this particular product.

It's nice. For anime I guess it can work. But my problem is, I can't sing to save my life and I'd like to put together a demo of one of my songs using artificial intelligence. Problem is, it still sounds robotic. Some of the words I can get but some are totally unintelligible. The vocoder sound is not as prevalent on some words but on others it's very distinguishable.

In short, I can't possibly use this to put together a demo for an industry professional to hear. I'm not sure Vocaloid Diva is that much better but it is an improvement. Some of the demos I've heard I would say are maybe 75% there as far as usability. I'd give this product a 50% at best.

Ironically, the actual vocal quality of the singer on this product I like better than Cyber Diva. But the grammar just isn't there yet.

I don't know if the technology will ever be there, at least not in my life time.

I'm not knocking this product for what it does and I can see some uses for it. But it's not something I can use for what I need to do.

Will be there faster than you think. :)

At this point of course those 'gimmicks' are not a replacement for a real singer, but a stylish addition for a special kind of music some people like to produce.

I just demoed it for a couple of minutes, and it certainly does sound gooooood, but what I don't understand, how it is different from Chipspeech. Do I "need" both, if I already own Chipspeech?

Bug report: there seems to be a problem with saving and loading patches, when I try to load a patch I get an "unknown error". I'm on an old dual-core pentium 4 and run cubase sx.
Other than that, this thing is simply beautiful and very suggestive sounding! )

No samples?! Pardon my language but that's fu%$ing amazing. In 10 years will singers have real computer competition?! Wow!

I meant that its not just a bunch of wavs. Its not a sample player.
Its re-synthesis of real recordings (from Crusher-P's own voice), processed to great ends and converted into a huge database.

Well, it really does sound terrible.

However, what's worse, is that contemporary pop singers, even good ones, more and more are being "produced" into this robotic crap, which kinda works in Plogue's favour ( ! )

Twenty years down the line, this technology could evolve into something quite scarily good. For now, it's just a gimmicky novelty with no value for anyone who wants to produce anything lifelike.
