From this feature list it seems you can't export as midi ... in which case I don't see the point

I have FORTE basic opened up, and it would appear that you can export as midi. Just click 'export', and you'll see the MIDI option along with a few other types.lingyai wrote:From this feature list it seems you can't export as midi ... in which case I don't see the point

Ah, ok. Maybe it's such a basicfeaturethat they didn't see a need to list it. Thanks!

I didn't expect much for $24 in the first place, but it seemed like something that could help a few people. And it's probably a notch or two above most of the other free ones out there.

Just noticed this - thanks for sharing, Steve! Looks like the upgrade path works, so it's like saving $25 on a better version. Nice.

At the very least it's good for educational purposes.
Would be interesting to hear what other people come with when using it.

The same offer is available now for Forte 10 Basic (for a limited time): https://www.fortenotation.com/en/giveaway
In Forte 10 Basic, MIDI import/export and MusicXML import are included in this version, but MusicXML export is not.

If I'm after scoring, I still find Lilypond to be faster than anything else. Yeah, it's a steep learning curve, but there's nothing it can't do, and generally faster, with higher quality, and the lowest possible price (free and open source). But it's certainly not for everyone.
