It took me a little to wrap my head around the way it works, but after a few 'a-ha!' moments it's a very well done host. The developer is always anxious to hear feedback and implement suggestions. It'a already made some strides in an excellent direction. The kicker is that each release is mostly about feature additions or enhancements (it's very solid).
Probably like many others here, I like to work with multiple hosts. Sometimes the interface or the differences in workflow are inspiring. Podium make take a little to get used to, but it's a very well done, worthwhile, and capable host.

The demo was updated to version 1.05.
Changes since 1.0:
--1.01--
- VST parameter automation:
The Parameter Properties dialog now contains a new 'Plugin Parameter' type and a corresponding 'Plugin parameter number' field. Importing plugins will automatically create VST parameter objects and place them in a 'VST Parameters' folder under the device definition. The library collection of plugin definition files have been updated with VST parameters placed in category folders.
- Bar and beat lines in editors are drawn with a darker color.
- Double-clicking on tempo field in bottom playbar will open properties dialog for current tempo event.
- Added spin button to bpm field in tempo event properties dialog.
- Fix: Check for ASIO drivers reporting invalid I/O latencies.
--1.02--
- When using the pencil tool in arrangement and keyboard editors, pointing at edges of events will display a resize cursor allowing the events to be resized without the use of key modifiers.
- When dragging events and pressing control key to perform cloning, the cursor will change to a clone cursor.
- When using drag and drop to clone events, original events will be deselected.
- Changed color of translucent mask used for dragging selections and objects. Makes it easier to distinguish the mask from any selections underneath.
- The tool shortcuts in editor context menus now reflect the tools available on toolbars in the editor.
- The pencil tool can be used to drag the height of individual tracks by pointing at the bottom of track headers.
- Control-clicking on the zoombars located in lower-right corner of tracks and channels regions, will reset zoom to default setting.
- Fix: MIDI output of metronome were not working and could cause a crash.
- Fix: Assigning the same parameter to more than one track would cause a crash if the tracks did not have a device mapping on the parent track.
- Fix: Creation of master output mappings in the Project Wizard did not check which channels were enabled in the interfaces dialog.
- Fix: Using the Windows system menu to minimize windows would cause erratic behaviour and under some circumstances would lead to a crash.
--1.03--
- Fix: Using pencil tool to double click on sequence events, could cause a crash under certain circumstances.
- Fix: Pointing with pencil tool below last track, would always show the track resize cursor and not allow clicking to create new track.
--1.04--
- The keyboard editor will audition notes when clicking on note events and when dragging or resizing events.
- New keyboard editor key shortcuts:
Cursor keys will navigate the note events.
Control + cursor left/right keys will time-shift selected notes with the quantize snap time.
Control + cursor up/down keys will transpose selected notes.
Control + shift + cursor up/down keys will transpose selected notes in octaves.
Control + plus/minus keys will change duration of selected notes.
Plus/minus keys will modify attack velocity of selected notes.
Insert key will append duplicate of selected note event or insert new event at start of sequence if no events are selected.
- Fix: Zoom X and Zoom Y tools were not selectable in the editor context menus.
- Fix: An update in 1.02 caused the play cursor to not repaint properly during playback.
--1.05--
- Mouse wheel can be used to scroll in list boxes and slide editor canvases. Holding shift key will slide canvases horizontally.
- Modified Program Preset Properties dialog to allow setting bank selection to use only controller 32.
- Import of Cubase patchname script files.
- Improved the project wizard hardware panel import options. There are now two listboxes for selection of audio input and output channels.

I use it. I've done a few entries into monthly competetions using it (including this months..)
All depends on how you like to work. For me it works well.. There is a learning curve, but there is with anything, depends how willing you are to spend time with it. I'm splitting my work fairly evenly 50/50 between Podium and Ntrack, depending on what sort of track I'm working on.
But do try it!

Podium is the way a host should be laid out in my opinion. I love the way the controller tracks are incorporated and that most all of your work is done on the main screen. It's a really well laid out design, and even being so young in it's development, it has some nice features that many older, more well established hosts, lack even to this day. Most importantly I've yet to get it to crash, something I got Sonar to do the first night I had it. I've used Sonar, Cubase, Samplitude, and EnergyXT. I think Podium is going to soon be the standard for others to match up to. Note, it's not anywhere near perfect now, but it's nice to have contact with the programmer and get feedback on upcoming additions. The logic of the inteface is first rate. The learning curve is the same as the learning curve for any new host. Frits is also very good at responding to message baord posts. I'm a professional Recording Engineer and am now using it for my Independent projects.

I downloaded the demo and tried it, then gave up. At least for the moment. It seems to be a "maybe interesting" piece of software, but totally puzzling
. I was even unable to get any sound from my keyboard after some hours struggling with it
. I think it lacks a proper manual, and "videos" are not so helpful. Maybe some day I'll get back to it!
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

I think what took me the longest to get was..
1. Start with a blank project.
2. Add a track.
3. Add Stereo Output to the track.
4. Now create subtracks from that master track.
5. Turn on the audio engine.
I used to set it all up through the wizard, but once I figured out what the wizard was doing for me, so many more things became clear (I'm a bit thick sometimes).
It's really quite easy, and it's development is certainly user driven. The amount of improvement can be measured weekly, and the developer is very very attentive and quick to answer.

ive tried it a few times in its development cycle so far ...
... each time ive had the same looks-good-and-is-powerful-but-doesnt-really-fit-with-the-way-of-working-i-find-productive feeling ...
... it is undoubtedly powerful but like all other hosts (and ANY software i guess) its a try-before-you-buy situation ... if it clicks with you and works for you then go for it (even though i dont get on with it its obviously going to be a player in the sequencer field in the near future) ...
... having downloaded my live4 upgrade last night i personally wont be trying podium again any time in the near future
