*cough* I'll leave this article I came across a week ago right here... http://www.metalinjection.net/its-just- ... king-idiot

I'm all for artists getting their fair share of the money made off of their work and I think it's awesome when someone who is authentic and cares about their work can live off of it, but it shouldn't ever be the primary driving reason someone makes music, in my opinion. That just creates this same, dumb-downed, formulaic pop crap polluting our airwaves and internet connections these days.

I forgot- women. Im also in it for women.

listening to music was always so inspiring. over the years, various guitarists, singers, rockists, classisists, jazzists, and synthesists etc. really inspired me to attempt to roll my own...

Post

It keeps me calm and gives me something to take my mind off other things.

I don't know what else I could've done. There was a photo of me having got onstage, dancing with a woman doing the Charleston at some holiday, probably Myrtle Beach. I was 4. I remember experiencing Nutcracker Suite in the first grade where the teacher had to catch me, moving towards the stage. I was banging on pots and pans I would move to my room from the kitchen from about 5 and finally my father started buying drums. I used to build models of drum kits from scratch, you know, the yoyo was the kick drum... I wasn't very prodigious really but that's what I wanted out of living, always.

I'm curious to know, since there isn't any money to be made releasing music anymore, what are you doing with your music? Is it something you keep for yourself, or is it something you just drop on your site?

Personally, I release music on cassette and CDr just for fun, as I like the tangible medium that is audio tape. I also dig the process of creating the artwork and printing it, painted the tapes and setting up a release page on bandcamp. I've done it a few times, I'll certainly be back at it very soon.

No, I stream it via youtube at HD. I'm known for it among a few people. If I wanted to make a living I would have to be out there live all the time, and I'm not well enough for that by a long ways. Sometimes people contribute but most people close to me aren't exactly billionaires.

Didn't know there still are cassettes :) I don't have any device that could play them, but I remember them from the 80's. I miss them, one could simply record anything from the radio, which is no longer possible that easily.

I think I make music, or try to rather, because I miss the times when I grew up, so I make that kind of music. Also because I have a lot of spare time and because I want to achieve at least one thing in my life (i.e. one song) someone might remember me for after I am gone.
