Actually Mikael Eidenberg has made most of the skins, I really think he has done an awesome job!Teksonik wrote:Thank Lance Thackery for those skins. Unfortunately even if the version of Sylenth that supports official user skinning is released these skins won't work because as they are now all the graphics are imbedded in the .dll. Someone will have to strip them out and set them up to work in the new system. I don't know if Lance will do that or not.........chk071 wrote:Seriously, that's one of the best looking GUI's i've ever seen. Great stuff.
We contacted Lance about his skin and we agreed on already using the low-res version for the beta and in meantime he is working on a high-res version of his skin. The skins that will be included in the upcoming release will have protection to ensure no-one steals a design.
We will add detailed instructions on how to make a skin, we haven't rewritten Sylenth1 to have a semi-skinnable version...the skins are located in separate folders and can be altered without hacking into Sylenth1.

So what is actually happening now is that they are saying
"Sylenth cannot be improved in anyway, but we can make it look different"
Which is cool tbh, because it works so well and has an amazing sound, but at least just lets forget of some big update that will never come.
Personally I think now its size is alterable, it can have more added, more ADSR's LFO's and introduce MSEG's. Better filter banks. Better effects.
Without altering the basis of Sylenth.
But then what do I know ?

Thanks, thought so, but googling found a lot of "not yet", but old.
I've been away from VST-land lately, playing guitar more and having a blast, but Sylenth1 is hardly ever on sale as I understand it.
Pretty light on CPU too, right? I know I should just demo it, just really tight for time right now.

Yes, sounding good, and light on CPU. Still, i would have thought they'd do a 50% off sale or so. Too pricey for what it does, especially as Spire is on a 30% off sale, and can be had for about the same price (edit: Spire is even 20 € cheaper with the current sale...).
Edit: Just checked, and, adding VAT, Sylenth1 is a blazing 165 € on this 25% off sale, lol... IMO, that's ridiculous. Well, people gotta know.

I'm US, so Sylenth should be about $110, Spire $132, not that different.
How's Spire's CPU usage? I have an older i7 laptop.
In your opinion, they cover similar territory?

Definitely. Sylenth1 may sound a bit more raw, Spire is a bit more polished. But i tried to recreate some sounds from the Adam van Baker once in Spire, and it really was 99% the same. Even the values of some parameters, and the arpeggiator modes are the same as in Sylenth. It takes more CPU though, but, not as excessive as it used to be in versions before version 1.1. Don't want to sound like a shill, but, for me, it's pretty much a no-brainer.dwozzle wrote: In your opinion, they cover similar territory?

I think you got that wrong. There will be a 25% discount on the standard price of 139 euros + VAT. So, maybe 120 euros, depending on the country.chk071 wrote:Yes, sounding good, and light on CPU. I'd love to have it again, but a three-figure amount is indeed still a lot for a synth, which in my view has a keytracking problem, despite LD denying it, and manipulating and finally closing my thread on that issue in the LD forum.

Maybe he will implement something really wild and revolutionary, like, PWM or a reverb that doesn't sound like a tin can

Don't tell me, those 2 things prevented you to make hit songs, to become rich and a music legend and when you turned 70 to marry a 20 years old super model who wanted to have your kids and these are the reasons why Sylenth1 has not been used by thousands of artists in the last 10 years and why Sylenth1 doesn't have bajillion of soundbanks and presets available and it prevented Sylenth1 to be one of the most used synths in the last decade and to remain to be relevant and a top dog.fluffy_little_something wrote:Maybe he will implement something really wild and revolutionary, like, PWM or a reverb that doesn't sound like a tin can
I knew it that it was all because of the lack of PWM and those reverb VST's don't exist, they just DON'T exist, god damn it!
Seriously, dude, get real....
