Actually, the opposite is often true! And Melda is a shining example of a one-person-shop which communicates very well. Sometimes I wonder how he can manage to develop and communicate so intensively at the same time. This whole thread is a product of a client who is obviously offended by the fact that Vojtech didn't agree with him.

Although I partially understand Teksonik's concerns, his outcry is not adequate at all.
The "kernel" approach has its drawbacks, plus many advantages. If you don't like it, you are welcome to use the older version which actually occupies more disk space. (Or, about the same space if you install a single plugin.)

Yes, the installation location of the "kernel" files is questionable, indeed. In my opinion, that's the whole problem.
Perhaps the solution is to make the user aware of what is going on that would be outside of typical expectation. I don't know if its in the Melda install process, but some kind of notification, or link to the information, would possibly quell some of these issues - tell the user or otherwise make available to them, any details about the install that is over and above, installing a file in your plugins folder. that should be enough. then the user knows at least.

Never noticed this before I owned the total bundle. Now that I do own it all it doesn't really matter. I wish all developers would let you install their products with no presets, but that's not going to happen. Deleting extra files after an installation should be standard procedure for anybody who is that concerned with space and keeping stuff they don't need off their system (I could care less about a few megabytes here and there as long as they get removed by the uninstaller). I personally don't use the experiences of others with customer service to inform my buying decisions. I've had nothing, but positive interactions with the Melda guy and get a great deal of use from his plugins. Really though many companies wouldn't bother to even tell you they weren't going to take your suggestion and implement it. Try emailing Native Instruments and telling them that the komplete installer has put drivers, and all sorts of random shit on your computer and you think that's stupid because you are never going to own any of their hardware. They won't even take the time to tell you "tough titties". Not gonna stop me from upgrading to the next Komplete though.

No way I'm reading all of this, but I want to interject that I think of Melda first when I think of responsive developers who are constantly improving their products. There are numerous others that have impressed me as well, but here you have a guy rolling out updates to 80 plugins at once every few weeks. It takes me longer to check off the updates in "My KVR" than it does to download and install the update. I'll happily overlook a few extra files in return for constant, significant improvements.
I think these whines about installing things that you neither own nor use might better be placed with IK Multimedia. Compaints about nasty attitude might be better aimed at KV331. Those two should provide all the fodder you need to vent relentlessly.

Well, that's a problem with the Melda (un)installer as wel. The only files cleaned up are the dll's. Every other file will remain on your system.
So from the 1200ish files around 40 will be uninstalled. That's a 3% cleanup rate.
Bloody mess I'd say :D

You won't hear me commenting on the plugins but the installer can use some polishing. Both in- and uninstalling.

This seems like a really small thing to complain about. Just erase the files or don't use the products. There are tons of developers that do things in ways I don't like. I just refuse to use their products. Is a few extra MB from your HD really something to whine about?
