I don't understand why people have to press so hard about the price. If it's not worth it to you, then keep it moving.

If the upgrade price and product price are priced to high, FXpansion will know that because no one will have purchased it.

People can charge whatever they feel like. Consumers let them know if they've done that correctly by the number of sales made or not made.

Please don't try to be some kind of white knight. I have already said I am not going to buy it. And no, there are much dumber things one could do than talk about boundaries, trust me. Acting like a forum police-man is one of them. And no, you're wrong agian, I am not trying to fault anyone here. I guess people do not read, but i will restate what I have said twice now, TWICE! The dev can price it however they like, and there is nothing wrong with that. And Omnisphere is a preset machine to me. Sorry if that hurts your ego because you spent half a grand on it.

Do you have a feature request, some feedback, or other request for fxpansion? If you make your case without insults and drama you might have more luck getting people to listen and consider what you have to say.

You're doing everyone on these forums a disservice when you do not read the whole thing. I have stated already that I will not be buying it. And no, you're wrong. There are people who will spend their money at any price simply because it's fxspansion. These fanboys hurt everyone else because it tells the devs that what they're doing is ok, and it's not. Overpricing for minor upgrades is not ok, its a quick money-grab and people like you are exactly who fxspanion are aiming for when they price their products extremely high.

If you're going to price something high, it must be competitive to what other devs are doing (check out Serum, it's priced at 189$ and it can do so much more). So either add more features or lower the price. This is all my opinion and I know it's in the minority. People will tell me I am wrong to look good in the eyes of others, but I am sure there are some people who do in fact agree with me.

I did read. I just don't agree with you.

I think you're doing a disservice by repeating yourself so much. It's not necessary. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, or just because they have an observation based on what you've written doesn't mean they didn't understand you.

We don't all agree here. It would be boring if we all did, but all the same there's no need to start calling people fanboys and such just because they don't see things the way you do.

Different strokes.

Or, it might be because you're wrong. Or it might be because it's legitimately subjective and those that disagree with you may also have valid points.

So edgy. Of course people will disagree with me. And i'm sure they do, but I though that was a given?

Hey, with devs like Steve Duda really creating some awesome boundary pushing stuff, Fx has to step up their game or try to price their stuff a bit more competitively. Even u-he diva which is the same price as strobe 2 offers more with its separate modules and such. I think Urs did a good job pricing it's synth because it was doing more for you, per dollar.

Well I'm moving on for the moment, $179 is way too much for a synth in todays marketplace

Post

Last words on this:

1. It's not a minor update. Two years of work.

2. Consider how many hours you're likely to spend sculpting sound and making music with Strobe 2 over the next 5 years. If $79 still represents bad value per hour when you calculate it that way - whether you compare that to playing through a video game, or time in the pub, or a night out clubbing with friends, or renting rehearsal space with your band - then I'm sorry, but I'm afraid it's just not for you.

Diva and Serum are both fantastic synths. Neither has TransMod (though Serum is close), neither's FX section is remotely comparable. Different tools for different jobs.. I don't see people splitting hairs over whether a PolyEvolver should cost more or less than a Voyager, or whether an 1176 is priced fairly vs a Distressor - can we leave it alone now?
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Find me on LinkedIn or elsewhere if you need to get in touch.

No it's not...

If you think that, you don't know Omnisphere.

EDIT: I said it before, on kvr, that 300e was a very expensive upgrade for Omni 2. I still maintain that position. But it's also a great synth (and I don't use presets either btw).

I know its not technically just a preset machine, that's why I keep having to repeat myself, but TO ME, its nothing more than just a crap load of sounds I will never use. I hate having to repeat myself. :dog: And no, I don't use it, never will. Does that make me a bad person? no. Does that make Omnishpere a bad synth? no. Is it possible I see no value in it? yes.

The other day my little nephew thought my piano which is lockable is a footlocker. Not half so funny i know..
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I don't think I've ever used an omni library preset (except a few from plug hugger).
