And a lot of the "gushing" is just that new release enthusiasm that forums such as this do so well in propagating these days...

It's probably better to remain calm and not let your emotions overtake the light of reason...

The other thing I find very entertaining is that something is just released and then people get on these forums and start pontificating and postulating about their new "go to"...

Then they start asking for a little help with the bugs

That is so funking funny...

I don't know too many professionals in any field who will rely on any tools until they have been proven to be reliable

blocks connect like a modular synth, you can build a modular synth that sounds like......a modular synth....in minutes. I think once the demo comes out and more people get to try the fuctionality and hear the results the buzz will only get greater, and imho in this case the product merits the buzz (and to be fair there was almost no hype and no teasers, and for that alone NI deserve credit!).

I love reaktor for the unusual stuff you can get, but this update seems to turn it into a pseudo-analog-modular-bla-bla-synth, which is a bit meh for me...

Let's hope there will be some crazy blocks developed soon because right now I don't see why I should upgrade

I would suggest, it is expanding its capabilities by improving the flexibility for those who want to get stuck in without knowledge of DSP. It's one of those extremely rare times when marketing hype might actually meet expectations.

Very excited by this update.

Many of the synth people love on KVR are pseudo-analog-modular (Zebra etc.) so anything that can be quickly connected to make new and unique instruments and sounds are generally welcomed (and Reactor doesn't just do analogue emulations, it does physical modelling, FM, wavetable, effects. sequencers etc)

Reaktor could always sound great if you dug deep (listen to Mornak, Rounds etc) but now mortals like me with a little knowledge of how to patch a modular can make new great sounding instruments in minutes, something totally unique that doesn't sound like everyone else....

As far as I am concerned Reaktor comes free with 'Blocks'!

Its a 'framework' like eurorack that everyone works to (set inputs and outputs) so that all the blocks can connect and modulate each other- everything anyone makes is no longer a stand alone reactor ensemble, its a module for your personal modular.

Anyway I saw a "morphing" block which looks very intersting...

Personally I am really excited about the update because I think we will see incredible additions to the user library, there are several amazing blocks already and Reaktor 6 has been here only for like a week!

Ensembles in Reaktor 5 are really great (esp. Monark / Rounds) but this is a whole new dimension of creating your own instruments and patches. I really wanted to delve deeper into creating my own ensembles in Reaktor 5 but it would simply take a lot of dedication and time. Now I can grab my favourite blocks and experiment with them within minutes. The looks of the 'blocks' is great and the sound is simply incredible. I will not say it's better than the competition but it's at least on the same level as the best VST's around.

The part that you missed is a basic set of rules for standardizing GUI sizes, and I/O so the modules work together more easily - this a deceptively powerful force - the eurorack standard has revitalized modular hardware - suddenly people are actually making hardware modules and people are actually buying them because everything plays nice together reliably thanks to the eurorack standard.

Heck, just think of what HTTP did to the Internet when you want to think what happens when you agree on a simple set of standard higher-level rules wrapped around lower-level infrastructure and protocols and then give people the freedom to do whatever they want within them. Sh#$t can get pretty cool.

Not necessarily true, lots of pros in other fields even where missions can be pretty critical (healthcare, transportation, etc.) will rely on newer equipment or even brand new types of equipment if the brand is trusted... just sayin'
