As the perpetrator of said comment, my apologies, but could I politely request that you guys stick around and participate in the fora here. I'm sure you are very busy but you will do wonders for your company's image if you do. You might take a bit of a criticism at first but if you enter into meaningful and continuing dialogue then things will rapidly change (from my experience).

[From my own particular pressing interests, please could Brad (or somebody) participate regularly in the Iris 2 thread.]

Pretty please.
No sweat! :tu:

I'm always paying close attention to any RX related thread, from both angles, as a user and a curator of the product itself. That includes this one for sure, and any others.

There's clear benefits to public discussion, but as always, I'm easily reached @ matt.h@izotope.com, if anyone ever wants to talk in more detail offline about any particular feature or DSP.

Okay, I've been watching Izotope for a while and been on the fence about buying this and some of the other products for just as long. I want to address a few things here.
matthines wrote:Let me know if you have questions about any of them, based on the web pages! Also by request, we've introduced the Post Production Suite, for those who'd rather have every tool in one complete package, rather than separately. It includes some added bonuses from Pro Sound Effects and Groove 3 too.
You keep saying this stuff on here yet you're talking in circles and not giving any real answers to anything anyone has asked. You're being the shining example of how NOT to be a representative for your company. If anything, every time you make a post that refuses to directly respond to a question or issue someone has posted about something that is controversial in the slightest, you make people like myself who are willing to spend thousands of dollars with companies like yours back away slowly till we can turn around and run.

You also keep saying "by request" and I'm not buying it. Who is requesting? The CEO of the company who wants to simply sell more products because I can't think of a single user who says to themselves, "You know, I really wish the company would split a product down into multiple separate modules rather than give us a free update to an already pricey application so I can spend more money". Who actually believes that horse dung? I actually find it a little insulting as a possible customer that you would think we're that stupid.

At this point, I'm at the backing up slowly stage. I've looked over the bundles you offer and I'm seeing your products becoming more fragmented (and in some cases, dumbed down) to the point where I question whether or not I wish to do business with you. Plus, you offer no complete bundle with all the products thrown in for whatever reason (I'm guessing to extract more money) which also bothers me because people like myself like to throw all in to companies who make solid products.

I'm not saying this to be mean but I'm also not here to be your friend. I have a business to run and that's what this is: business. You and your company are digging a hole with possible and existing customers that it will take a long time to dig out of. If I were you, I'd take this to the conference room ASAP and try and figure out how you as a company can reconnect with customers and future customers so you're all on the same page rather than dancing around and making yourself look foolish. I truly hope you guys turn some things around quickly because I would like the opportunity to do business with you but at this point, Izotope is making me NOPE the hell out of it.

Edit: Got home and reread this and I can see myself as coming across as sort of an ass. This is not my intention. The intention is to let you know without beating around the bush the severity of the actions being taken and the long term effects it can have on the company. It's not something that can or should be taken lightly or without consideration to how the company or you present yourself.

I'm sure you're going to feel ganged up on but understand the position of us. If I were a current RX customer, I'd be PISSED about the way Izotope has handled this. It was a dumb decision but one that can also be rectified. It boils down to how much the company actually cares about the people who keep them in business.

Best of luck to you.

Post

Nice post. You don't actually think that a company run by investors cares about the customer, though, right? It seems that's what we have here with iZotope.

When people invest, they suddenly get all pushy and change how the business works. It's self defeating because it wrecks the formula that made the company worth investing in in the first place. But if it makes them a profit, they see only that. The product and the customers are irrelevant to this kind of capitalist behavior. Only a small company that gets its life blood from individual customers cares at all to treat them like they're valued. Once investors, public ownership, or market dominance occurs, that ends.

EDIT: iZotope also doesn't NEED end users for them to be in business. They license their tech to other companies for inclusion in other companies' products.

Agree with Mystic above, you do seem to have some serious customer relation problems over the last couple of years. Treat us badly, treat us like fools, and we won't support your product and your company will do poorly. Remember how much word of mouth counts for...

Please add the following to RX5 ASAP:

1) The ability to "Export to MP3" format. I seriously can't believe it can't do this in this day and age.

2) An "Insert Silence" function, particularly as you are now calling it an "Audio Editor". An audio editor without this function sounds like false advertsing to me.

In the future I'd like to see:

1) Dual track functionality with the ability to add track points and cross-fades for album/CD layouts.

2) Export to CD (burning) and DDP archive formats.

This would make it pretty much an all in one solution for many mastering engineers. It has the potential to be SO GOOD, but you gotta stop splitting things off and charging more for everything, and not offering free updates for customers who have already shelled out considerable sums of cash.

Post

Matt contacted me privately and said that the "Insert Silence" feature (which I asked for in July) will be in the new RX5, but that MP3 export will not, although it's on the list for the future. Still on the fence, will probably hold out for RX6!

For a repair tool, they're losing focus...

I think that's why they changed the name to RX5 Audio Editor

Post

But it has been much more than a repair tool for longer, it's actually a fully fledged audio editor already with almost everything you need for finalizing your audio.

We're focussed firmly on audio repair and enhancement, in the context of an audio editing application.

Matt

I am kind of guessing from your replies that Izotope's policy is that you are NOT to comment on pricing issues, un/bundling, complaints and the like on public fora.

However, does the message that many customers (and KVR denizens) are unhappy with how things have gone with Iris/Ozone/RX lately, and what looks from your recent press releases a loss of interest in Iris/Stutter Edit/Breaktweaker, actually reach the people who are making decisions on these things?

If it is not getting transmitted then who should we write to?

Cheers.

Question for Matt;

I'm a long time user and staunch advocate of your RX products (in fact iZotope used my testimonial of RX3), and as a user of RX4 Advanced I have just bought an upgrade to the Post Production bundle. On registering the codes and installing the software though, it turns out that the Loudness Control component is not available as a VST. I work solely on Windows x64 with VST plugins, and iZotope's support simply told me that there were no plans to release a VST version of Loudness Control.

Please could you do something about this? Maybe it was naive of me to assume that because RX, Insight, and Final Mix are all available as VST plugins that Loudness Control would be too, particularly as they are bundled, but I have essentially bought a product I can't use by upgrading to the Post Production bundle.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what it is that Toneboosters EBULoudness (20€) or Hornet ELM128 (now on sale for 7.79€) can not do that RX Loudness Control can?
Is it that ELM128 has realtime normalization but only EBU R128 compliance, or that EBULoudness is more compliant but doesn´t have realtime normalization?
edit: found out it supports surround sound, up to 5.1

RX Loudness Control is only compatible with Audiosuite and the Adobe Extension.

I apologize that it wasn't clearly stated that RX Loudness Control isn't compatible with VST plugins currently. Please email me at matt.h@izotope.com, and we'll resolve this issue!

I will pass your feedback along to our marketing team and work closely with them to make this clearer on the Post Production Suites page in the future. We appreciate your feedback and it is users such as yourself that help us continue to make better and better products.

Cheers Matt, disappointing to hear VST isn't supported, but I've dropped you an email :)

The management at Izotope could care less what us end users think, that's obvious.
