Wow,
I am usually on top oif the news, and even though I live in LA, I just heard tonight. My respect for JG is beyond almost anyone. To have such a body of work in ones life, is something most of us can only dream of.

I guess it's time to sit and watch/listen to some of his fantastic scores..

Goodbye Jerry.

Goddam Californians. In the 19 years I've lived here, they're the only drawback.

...well, that and the goddam expatriate New Yorkers!

Thank you Jerry for countless hours of musical scores which gave such vibrant life to film.

Think of watching a film without music, kinda boring isn't it?

He along with other great filmscorers such as John Barry and John Williams have influenced our memories of the films we have watched.

Thanks Jerry, wherever you are now I'm sure is filled with beautiful music.

Time to break out Aliens
You meant Alien of course.

Check out the original Planet of the Apes, Seconds and The Mephisto Waltz for some very different Goldsmith. Also love Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Cheers Jerry

I've just hired Rambo III - for the score of course.

Sad news indeed :(
I've been a fan since First Blood came out... Also checkout the soundtrack of Omen III - the movie sucked but Jerry's music is incredible.

didn't he win an Oscar for that score?

I always loved Goldsmith's scores. His music was always unique and appropriate to each film (each of the ones I've seen anyway) but never upstaged the film itself. It's good to see the appreciation he gets around here.

The 13th Warrior was a flick that I missed when it came by in the theatres and that I ended up renting. :D

It was kind of a sleeper, and I was pleasently surprised at how good it was.

I remember renting this flick, not reading the credits, or knowing who scored it, and being totally impressed with the soundtrack early on in the picture, and asking, who wrote this?

If you go to IMDB and look at his entry, it is truely amazing. Any movie with a sound track by him is a treat.

He leaves behind a remarkable legacy. :)
