More soundcloud whining..... (well, actually kinda solved)

If you read through the posts you'll see a rant that was because all I saw was the 3 options (it's called skimming and it's not recommended before making a rant )

Turns out, there is another option for paid "unlimited" that I missed even though it was totally obvious.

So free for 3 hours, 6 bucks for 6 hours, 15 for unlimited, and "invite" for something I frankly don't need to be concerned about with options varying. Makes more sense to me now.

At this point in time I'll keep this open because there are some good answers for someone who doesn't know (though I'm probably the only one)

I don't know what to do. I'd like to have a better option for posting my musings but I don't understand them. Free is 3 hours. Ok, that's not bad. But "paid" is just 6 hours.

I guess I'll just do the free and then if I need more use a different account and do free again/rinse/repeat but they keep scaring me off. I know others are bothered by it too.

You get more than just "6 hours" of audio with the paid version--but whether or not the extras are of any value to you is up to you.

And unless you're really going to be posting your "rants", you'll find it takes an extremely long time to even use up the 3 hours they give you. I've been on there for almost 3 years. I've posted almost 50 pieces, and I've probably only used 2 hours of total time (and probably much less than that).

SoundCloud isn't great--don't get me wrong. But it's the 800-lb gorilla, and you'll be hard-pressed to ignore it.

Hearthis.at is a similar service, but despite their 2 years of struggling, they still don't have the active community SoundCloud does (and in those two years, I'm pretty much the only person who has mentioned them, from what I've seen!).

Pro Unlimited isn't an invite-only subscription and never has been. I think they use to have an unlimited-upload one that was invite-only some years back but all the plans got reworked and they've been like this for a while.

meh...i hate soundcloud. dont get me wrong, i dont think its bad...i hate it because its like heroine. i wish i had never started using it in the first place (i dont actually use heroine). now that ive been using it for a while...and i have a bunch of stuff on there and some followers and such...i feel like i need to keep using it.

i know i dont though. i could just close it up and id never notice the difference. i dont use soundcloud to try to expand my listener base, as i dont think its any good for that. its main use for me was to be able to post my music in forums and such for easy sharing. now that i have my own domain/website i dont need that function anymore. i can host as much music as i want myself (and have a website, and email, ect ect ect) for less than the paid version of soundcloud, which i dont use. i had a paid account but let it lapse once i figured out it was pretty much useless.

but i dont want to just let it go all together either. im hooked.

Looks as though I didn't dig deep enough. Those tiers look perfectly normal to me now. I'll keep this open just in case but I'm editing the OP since I farked up royally.
