You lost me there. Direct Control Link assignments only are 1-to-1, they can't control multiple things at the same time directly.braj wrote:This is strange, I tried assigning parameters just a while ago, it didn't work. I came back just now, created a new project, and was able to get two instruments within a multi to accept 1 controller assignment. Then I tried to assign another knob to another synth control, and when clicking the left arrow to link them, the arrow simply disappears and I can't make the assignment. The multi only accepts two controls before it seems to break. I think there is a bug here.
If you want to control multiple parameters from one knob, assign the hardware knob to a macro knob and assign multiple parameters to the macro knob. To automate all of that put the plugins or instruments in Touch automation mode on their UI and move the hardware knob and it will write automation for all of those parameters at the same time.
Make sure you check the option... "Automatically add Envelopes for All Touched Parameters" ... and when you do that the envelopes will just appear if they don't already exist. It will look like just one envelope got recorded, but it's not, it''s multiple envelopes on an automation track. Expand the automation track and you'll see them all.
Hope that helps.

I was saying you can only make two controller assignments before it breaks, but I just figured out what is wrong. S1 won't allow control of a plugin in a multi unless the UI is open and frontmost. So you can't create a big instrument with different controls mapped to different plugins and access all the controls since you have to pull up the individual plugin window first.LawrenceF wrote:You lost me there. You're probably in the wrong mode in Control Link.braj wrote:Yeah, I know, I'm telling you it is broken.
Global Mapping
With Global mapping, hardware and software controls maintain a one-to-one relationship, where a single hardware control is linked directly to a single software control. Some controls, such as Track fader, pan, and mute, can only be mapped globally. To map a plug-in control globally, be sure Focus is disengaged in the plug-in window by clicking on the Focus button for the Keyboard you are using, so that it is no longer highlighted.
Focus Mapping
While only one software control can be manipulated at a time by a single hardware control, a hardware control can be linked to any number of software controls, based on context, using Focus mapping. For instance, a single hardware knob could control the release of a Gate plug-in, or the Gain of a distortion plug-in, or any number of other parameters, depending on which plug-in is in Focus.

Every parameter for every instrument in the same Multi Instrument is listed in the editor window, you don't even need to have any of their UI's open to do that, just select any parameter from any instrument there and assign it to any macro knob or button. Doesn't matter if it's two instruments or twenty in the multi, all of their parameters can be chosen from the same listing.braj wrote:I was saying you can only make two controller assignments before it breaks, but I just figured out what is wrong. Some of the confusion with this is just not fully grasping how it all works.

Yep, that was it, but it gets turned on automatically when you click the gear next to it to get to the mapping controls within the window. You have to click off the yellow box, that tripped me up. Anyone that uses the global controls in the top left won't get it turned on for that window. Anyhow, the GUI changed a bit, colors are different, and with the multis it adds layers that you can get disoriented with. One thing though: if you accidentally or mistakenly click the control to make it yellow, you will lose all the assignments you created across the multi plugins. That doesn't happen across plugins outside a multi.LawrenceF wrote:You're probably in Global mode in Control Link.braj wrote:Yeah, I know, I'm telling you it is broken.

Maybe, not sure tbh.
It's a pretty flexible system once you get a handle on it but like most software things I doubt if it's perfect so yeah, there might be a bug in there somewhere, no idea tbh. I haven't had any real issues with it yet.
The macro stuff... yeah... with the clarity of hindsight, it looks like not building the macro knobs and buttons into the automation system directly was not the best way. I fully agree with the masses on that one, those knobs and buttons really should have their own automation envelopes.
Overall though, not too bad for a 1.0, the macro system design. There's some good stuff there.

I think it is that bug that was tripping me up, erasing whatever was set in a multi. It is kind of a big one, imagine having a few multis with controllers set up, then accidentally clicking the controller on a window and making it yellow, all the multis will lose their assignments. Try it for yourself. Steps:
1. Create a multi with two instruments, assign each a knob on your controller.
2. Create a new instrument on a new track, assigning it a knob on your controller.
3. Create a third instrument on a new track, click the Edit Mapping button to make it active (yellow.)
4. Try the automation for each track and notice the results.
Result: controls in multi are gone, controls on track from step 2 are still present.

What I was doing was clicking the Edit Mapping button to get to the controls, then disabling the button, this coupled with leaving the multi to map other controls on other channels gave me unpredictable results. I will call this a Priority 1 bug since it results in data loss (the assignments, which could be considerable loss across multiple multis.)
One thing I would love would be controller assignments saved with presets.

Has anyone been able to get the pan knobs on a Korg NanoKontrol 2 to work (S1v3 Pro, Windows 8.1)? I set up the external device per the instructions, and everything except the knobs works fine...they don't do anything when turned.
Thanks in advance,
G

No clue tbh. My initial thought is that you're probably clicking it when you shouldn't be while not understanding that it only links to one thing at a time. To break multiple links you'd have to click that button on multiple synth UI's.braj wrote:What I was doing was clicking the Edit Mapping button to get to the controls, then disabling the button, this coupled with leaving the multi to map other controls on other channels gave me unpredictable results. Not necessarily disagreeing with you though. If you think it's a bug, report it on the forum.

It definitely is a bug. It doesn't matter what you intended to do when the application acts differently in multis and out of them. And like I said, you could click that by accident in any plugin window outside the multis and wipe out all your assignments.LawrenceF wrote:No clue tbh. In my thinking (mmv as usual) there's no real reason to change a mode for an assignment you've already made by clicking that button way over on the right side of the plugin window, and clicking it accidentally again after you've made an assignment seems a bit of a stretch due to it's location which is not really near anything else you'd typically be clicking on the plugin window. I wouldn't ever click it again unless I planned to change the plugin link assignment on purpose.braj wrote:What I was doing was clicking the Edit Mapping button to get to the controls, then disabling the button, this coupled with leaving the multi to map other controls on other channels gave me unpredictable results. About the NanoKontrol2, the pan pots also don't give a full throw when mapping them to other controls, and kind of float around, dependent on the speed you turn them, if you turn them fast, they only move a fraction they should, I dunno if it is Korg's bug but lots of people use these little suckers.

I tried but I am having an issue with the forum verifying I'm human.
