I was only trying to explain that it doesn't do what you think it's doing, that breaking one link in one plugin window doesn't actually do what you think above it's doing. But that's ok.
I don't say that to argue or to be contrary, just to say make sure you fully understand how it works and or is desinged to work first and after that yeah, if you see a repeatable bug, report it, sure.
Thanks Braj. I hope some of my comments were helpful to you in some way. Beat regards my friend.

It's all goodLawrenceF wrote: I hope some of my comments were helpful to you in some way. Beat regards my friend.
and definitely you were helpful or I may still be scratching my head trying to figure out why it was acting like it was.
I also just sent in a support ticket so it will make it to QA.

Cool, thanks. I was trying to come up with a way to explain it better. Think of it like this...
10 Synths are linked to a macro knob. Ok. Now I also link my hardware controller to that same macro knob. Ok. The "link" is just that, a simple link, there is no data except data that travels through it, data I generate on either end. Ok. If I accidentally break the link and can no longer control those 10 synths from the hardwarw, but no data is lost because the 10 synths are still linked to the macro knob. They're just sitting there. To control them all again I just link the hardware knob back to the same macro knob again everything is exacly like it was.
To lose all of the data, destroy the setup you took long minutes creating, would require unlinking all 10 synths from the macro knob, which doesn't happen with Control Link focus changes.
Does that make any more sense? I'm not good at explaining stuff. You could at any point decide you'd rather use a fader than a hardware knob, break the link on purpose, and assign it to a hardware fader. You don't lose anything. It's just a link for controlling anything with anything.

But you lose all the work that went into assignments. Say you have three multis with 2 instruments and effect mapped to your controller, then you accidentally click that button. Poof, you lost the data that told the application hat you wanted to do. It definitely is a p1 issue. It may not be he biggest deal for all users, but it will confuse some and piss off those that encounter it.

I know, it's cool though.
Try it for yourself. What actually happens is...
1. You make your links, in either mode. They work. Ok.
2. You click that button to change the mode and the links are broken, no control. Right? Because the mode you just switched to never assigned anything and or it's not applicable to the current state, focused or whatever.
3. If you click that button again it all comes back because all of the assignments are still there. I just did it here.
You saw the links break when you clicked the button but they're actually still there. Click the button again and you'll see your hardware knobs move and connect back up again. The assignments only ever go away if you intentionally clear them or change them.
That's all I got. You can explore the rest on your own. Thanks man.
I would literally suck as a teacher.

Are you even trying this with multis? I'm telling you, it just takes a click, you can disable it right after, but at that point the settings are gone. Follow my steps. It is a bug.LawrenceF wrote:I know, it's cool though.![]()

Would you guys happen to know how to edit the nanoKONTROL 2.surface.xml file in C:\Program Files\PreSonus\Studio One 3\devices\Korg\nanoKONTROL 2 to make the pan knobs work right? I'm not so good with XML.
Thank again,
G

Do you mean by 'flashy' accessory?LawrenceF wrote:True. Pro has to have some exclusive features or nobody would buy it. So yeah, it'll probably always be the case that the biggest or flashiest new features (sratchpad etc) are only in pro.EnGee wrote:I have Artist 3 but I didn't buy it. It came with iTwo interface.chk071 wrote:I'd be curious to know how many people really bought Studio One 3 Artist. I saw quite a few copy of Professional sold here at the market place, but not a single copy of Artist. Plus i just can't imagine how they would sell many copies of it, with the lack of VST support... would have liked to upgrade my Studion One 2 Producer to Artist if it had VST support, and there was an upgrade path, but nope to both options, that's a bit sad really, and leaves me feeling that they really want you to buy Professional. Which is valid of course, but a bit disapointing for me, because they sort of got rid of the "small" version with this policy.
I like it a lot but I wouldn't buy it really especially that I already have Prof 2.
Anyway, the Add ons won't make Artist 3 equal to Professional 3! It will be like Producer 3! There are many things missing in the add ons. The scratch pad, effects like the convolution reverb, groove delay, multiband compressor, arpeggiator and other midi effects and finally the project section.
The Artist is good if you have your own hardware and just need a clean stable sequencer.
So in reality there is only one complete version, which is pro 3. IMO if you want version 3, think of pro 3 only. Either trade your producer with prof 2 then upgrade to pro 3 (contact Uncle E) or just wait for a sale and buy Pro 3.
Well maybe for you, but Scratch Pad is a great workflow, it is not there just to impress us!
The Groove Delay is multi tap and it is very useful. Other effects are also essential (Open Air, Multiband Dynamics, 3 nice midi effects, and I didn't mention Melodyne Essential and the expansive additional library for Presence XT!).
Then comes the Project page, which is all about mastering really and then burn to a CD. All within Studio One Pro. For me, they are not flashy at all
Anyway, here it is the comparison between Artist and Pro, just add the add ons to Artist and compare:

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49 and some software instruments / synths.

Here we go again, riding the "Braj" merry go round.
Why is this fuss about an obscure feature(or bug) always the focus of your obsession with almost every release of Studio One.
I think it's time you move on if it's that much of a hassle. If you think your bug report is a crusade that worth all this drum beating than let it run it's course.
Frankly, I hope u find a DAW that works for ya and Studio One might get a rest for a change... at least from you.

What the hey? I love S1 and am just pointing ting out the bug to Lawrence, if he understood I would have dropped it. Glad you formed a hard and fast opinion of me and hope I drop the DAW, you're a real pearl of a guy.

Sometimes I wonder if some users get paid to defend developer's products in forums. Well, actually that is probably inevitable.

By the way didn't we have a similar interaction 3 years ago?...
AND, didn't I give you the same advice?
Take it to the forum(Personus) and hopefully you may get it solved instead of frustrating those who are trying to help and understand you here.

Oh, how I love the ignore function. I have no interest discussing anything with people that want to limit debate and discussion. Fanboyism does not reflect well on adults.
