My plugin idea is for a convolution wavetable processor thingie. In essence it involves using the audio traveling into the plugin, in a variety of ways, to cycle through the 'steps' of a wavetable, not unlike Ioplong's FlitchSplifter. Each step would contain a user definable wavefile which is used to treat the dry signal via convolution or frequency modulation. What do people think? (p.s. it's my first post so please don't shoot me down too hard).

Sounds like Yamaha's old RCM (Realtime Convoluted Modulation) from their older SY series. You could add a AWM (sample) as a modulator or carrier to Yamaha's FM Operator array.
Only problem here was the AWM's had to be of a very pure harmonic nature such as a Sine or Square wave to hear any impact with the FM. And at best it would be a warm distortion/fuzziness into the sound. Mixed sparingly, I thought it really added 'umph' more so than just mixing in old White Noise per say.
So it's a neat idea, and I won't shoot you down.
But - is alot of work for a programmer just for a user to add a little extra 'warmth' to a tone. With all the varying FX and routings available today in Hosts, you'd almost be better to add a Ring Mod into the mix for the RCM type effect?
