I can't install the RC full demo, it tells me that my 30 day period has expired. I imagine it's something to do with me owning a license for RC LE. I searched the online manual for 'articulation' but didn't get a result, so here I am.

Firstly, just in case, can LE send different notes from the one phrase to different MIDI channels? If not, can we do this with articulations in RC Full? If so can we channelize and keyswitch different notes independently? How does it work?

I upgraded today and see that there are articulation definition files that do keyswitching and/or MIDI CCs for articulations. If there was a channel option I could have lots of fun creating "ensemble" groups of articulations in the rcCTRL files so that instrument+articulation could be available in the drop down.

Is there any other way of splitting different notes into separate channels on the RC side?

I am not sure I understand your question. Would you like to assign a channel to articulations? Multiple channels to multiple articulations? I am not sure how flexible that would be.
Can you write an example?

I'm completely confused about the articulations. I cannot find any information in the User Guide about this feature. Could you guide me a bit about where the files are located? Or, how to create these?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for a bit with limited internet.

What I mean is that it would be great to be able to assign individual notes within a phrase to different instruments. So being able to channelize them would be great. Perhaps by having the channel stored in the articulation file. If each articulation could have a keyswitch/CC and a channel then, with custom articulation files, a phrase could contain a full section - all playing different parts/articulations.

This is interesting. I'll figure out how to handle phrases with multiple channels. But it is not needed to have new articulation definitions, because if you assign articulations
- to a phrase: you need to assign a single articulation to all channels individually in the phrase inspector. The inspector will know which tracks/channels the phrase has notes in.
- to individual notes: works the same way as today, the channel will be assigned internally, you don't have anything else to do

I use Kontakt most often in my works, and have tried using keyswitches when I want to make an articulation change.

Unfortunately, this ends up being quite messy inside the track, so instead I now create a multi with the various articulations per channel. The advantage with Kontakt is I can load up to 64 instruments in one instance of Kontakt.

The disadvantage of course is the hit to available RAM. The purge function in Kontakt is quite useful but sometimes the hit is significant.

By using this method though I minimize the amount of data in a track, thus being able to follow along more easily.

Although I do not wish to stand in the way of someone's needs, I am concerned how efficient to the work flow it will be to utilize multiple channels per track (if even possible). I think a track will get quite cluttered very easily.

Personally I think I prefer to use more tracks/instruments and place notes/articulation/automation per track/per channel. But this is just how I will prefer to work, of course. YMMV.

I agree with dsan in that I don't think too much time should be spent on this. I would have assumed that channels were part of articulation selection though - for exactly the reason that dsan outlines, that users use channelized multis for artics - which is why I thought it might be relatively simple to have a channel AND a keyswitch+CC (as we have at the moment) per articulation.

I personally think it would be amazing to have phrases that have low and hi strings (for example) in them, playing sections without unnecessary note doubling/tripling. It would, for me, increase the automagic of RC and reduce some of the multi-track mayhem of sequencing.

Incidentally, no note-offs are sent for the previous keyswitch at the moment when a new one is sent. This doesn't affect functionality, but it's untidy in bounced MIDI.

I added the missing note OFF bug to the to-do list.

At the moment the most convenient way of editing multi-track is using the group track. It is very easy (actually one click!) to 'move' whole phrases or some phrase notes to another track. If you enable 'group track overwrite mode' ( [⇔] icon), and you select phrases, then you can click on one track name in the group track header to move all selected phrases to that track.
The same works for phrase notes too, in Note Editing mode. You select a few notes of a phrase, and click on another track name, and all notes will be moved to that track. You will see the same notes but with different color if the track colors differ.
I don't know if this is a well known feature, but definitely useful.

Actually sounds very good and promising to me "if the channels stored in the phrase"
we can create/save and load easily accompaniment style Multi channel phrases ...
in this case even we wouldn't need (i think) Articulation file..
just a track settings that will allow us to selecting multi channel output.

not much complicated.. like in this video
