I did download the demo and I'll have to say if you're looking for an "analog" emulation, it's pretty good, especially the filter. You will get some audible aliasing though. Seems odd for a modern plug in.
... but I need to hit the manual... I'm not quite getting things. Is it really only a single VCA/Envelope per channel? I can't give my filter a different envelope than my amp? That's pretty much a deal breaker for me. Again, I'm ignorant as I don't know about the original.
Doepfer MS-404 now available as plugin!

OK, I hit the manual... and it seems to be 7 pages of installation and set up instructions. Bit of a joke, really. The Quick Start seems to be useful only if you've never seen a synth before. It's full of things like, "Makro Section: The eight Macro Controllers freely connected to other parameters or parameter groups. Their names may be defined by right clicking on the name tags." OK... how does one create those connections?
Am I correct that this really only has a single envelope per voice? Are the LFOs hard wired?

OK, I had some more time to play around with it, so I'll leave a mini-review.
As for if it sounds analog, yes. It sure does, though you can hear aliasing when you start to mess it. It's not close to a Diva or Monark when doing audio rate modulation, but you can get some really nice rich sounds out of it if you keep modulation speed down or use it in lower registers where it can sound pretty beefy.
It is an interesting configuration. Using different unison modes can yield cool stuff. The major issue with it is it feels like free/mag ware. There's no manual to speak of, just a quick start and an installation guide. I guess there's some tutorial videos but after experimenting a bit with it I figured most stuff out. It's also missing some basic stuff that's standard on most software. Want to route velocity to filter cut off? Can't. No standard MIDI modulation sources except for CCs are supported. Mod wheel seems hard wired to glide. WTF? The Macro system is interesting, but all you can do it map it to your midi controller. It seems like this plug in (and perhaps the original synth) was really meant to be used with a sequencer. I know it's cheap, but even at it's basic price I wish it were better and a higher price. I'd pay more and gladly give up CPU cycles for something that had a basic mod matrix and much less audible aliasing.
