I need to choose between the K240 Monitor and the K240 Studio headphones (~ same price). I've read that K240s are loder due to 55 ohm impedance. I will use them on Audiophile Firewire and i wonder wich are best for production, i'm into electronic music. So should i go for the M or the S ? The M are 600Oohms and i'm afraid they'll be too quiet. Although i will not pump up the volume since i do mixing & arrangement on them. So what's your advice ? Anyone got any ?

This freq response is good for production ? I donno much about that but i guess the bass is a little boosted on K240S (which i'm tempted to get because i've read that they're an updated version of the M and are +$10 too)

thanks in advance

Hi Moldo,

For most project studios, the "S" model would be the best choice since as you've noted, its impedance makes it "loud enough" without the use of a headphone amp.

I have the K240 monitor and like them a lot...
I do almost every thing with it.... recording, mixing, mastering. (OK i know it's bad.... )
I have no volume problem because it is plugged on my monitors (editor MA10-A) which amplify it as much as i want.

I don't understand the curve you point out. What is "amplitube dbr" ?
A -10 at 5Khz cannot be the db as we now it in our EQ !

I have the K 240 DF - highly recommend it, good for monitoring, just make sure you dont abuse it, they can fall apart if you drop em too much.

I have a K240 studio and I like it.

I like it alot but I don't really trust it too much.

I tried to mix music with it at night and it was OK
but next morning I listen to same music with my HR624 speaker
I get different result. I guess it has to do with frequency response or
something like that.

for listening to music or tracking or anything else it works fine
but just don't mix with it.

Where are the differences ? On lower freq ? I suppose with an EQ on soundcard output i will compensate it..
