Just what we needed. Another hype buster lol

Hmm, it's not fair to compare Crystal to Omnisphere. :dog:

1st comment under that article:

Ableton Live sound engine does sound less good than other daws.
Do a side by side comparison with Reason or Reaper and listen.

Maybe somehow it renders in a different way, producing the higher quality sound
you want and which you can compare with the output of other daws.

But when you are working with it, you easily hear a degraded sound quality.
 :hihi:  :hihi:   :dog: :scared:

Well.. if that audio engine is open source.. not so sure. Back to the drawing board!

made my day, very amusing and also (kind of) informative :tu: i for my part won't take either side of the arguments, but they definitely do make some good points in the article! thanks for the heads up, wagtunes!

Bit of a strawman argument there. Aside from #1 (Trust your ears), none of those qualify as *truisms* from my perspective. The rest are more like newb questions that get blasted on a regular basis on music production forums.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

I agree.

The last point is ridiculous IMO. It's exactly doing harm more than good! Music Theory and some kind of a study is essential. Otherwise lets call those 'producers' Noise Makers instead of Music Makers!

In short, there is nothing new. It's just a try to be near the lazy 'musicians' that don't want to understand Music Theory because of the 'creativity' excuse.

IMO, first learn the rules then break them!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Didn't Picasso say something similar?

Wow, "useless knowledge". I have neurological disorder that among other things shortens my attention span to about a 1962 single. I wish I could absorb all the chord inversions and scales as I could, master every instrument, anyone that discounts the deep knowledge a trained musician has hasn't heard much good music or seen many live musicians, nor picked up a flute or a violin to attempt to play it. How utterly ignorant. I agree with the punk ethos of not letting lack of knowledge stop you, but don't dis trained musicians, you block yourself off from the heart of what they do and make yourself poorer in the end, no matter what car you own.

It is possible that the article writer has a missing apostrophe in his surname. Or maybe not. Good surname in the context

So that I filled my post with apostrophes as unconscious reflection

And you think those musicians know nothing about Music Theory or (Jazz Theory)! They have learnt from their 'random' playing only! No knowledge of scales or chords, just a talent!

Music Theory is not a wall between you and the music making, but it is a knowledge helps you understand better. You can go on and play random notes, then learn by practice how to connect the melody or harmony in your mind, then the next play would be less random ...etc. But how long you will continue with this? How long you will be able to call yourself musician without knowing at least the basic of music theory?!

IMO, that's why many 'producers' hit a wall and can't do anything else except repeating themselves. It is like knowing 100 words and using them all the time to write poems!
