Does anyone know what kind of VST he was using? Does Guitar rig sound like a possibility? Sorry I have never used such a plugin before, and am still a beginner so I don't have much knowledge on such plugins, but it was quite a distinct and familiar guitar sound! In any case I really want to make that sound, can anyone recommend a VST I can use to modulate my sound in a similar fashion? Thanks!!
Guitar/distorter plugin?

I am looking for a plugin that Deadmau5 was using on stream a couple days ago. He was able to turn a basic synthetic saw lead sound into a distorted guitar-y sound with use of a VST. Now I know it may sound stupid to ask if he was streaming with it, but he wasn't screen-sharing so I couldn't see what it was.

Might be Guitar Rig, as it is an excellent amp software program (plus capable of much more).
Additionally, DeadMau5 is linked to FXpansion and Xfer software companies, so it might be something of theirs.

Hmm, I couldn't think of anything from Xfer emulating such a sound, do you know if FXpansion has anything of the sort?Doug1978 wrote:Might be Guitar Rig, as it is an excellent amp software program (plus capable of much more).

Also what do you mean he is 'linked' to FXpansion and Xfer? I know he is friends with Steve Duda.

You maybe right about Xfer (and FXpansion) software not being the one in question.
And it sounds, by your description, as if you are considering a distortion or saturation plugin - Guitar Rig would be excellent for that, even if it is not the one that Deadmau5 uses.
But to be fair, until you post a link to Deadmau5' gig from two days ago, I'm none the wiser as to what effect he is using!
Xfer Records is a label started by Deadmau5 and his longtime friend and studio accomplice Steve Duda.

Deadmau5 / Joel is also a long-term collaborator with FXPansion (he performs/performed with Strobe and BFD amongst other things):
