Any chance for a MuLab key for this? I'm getting noise wooshes with just 1 track, no external VST plugins. :-/ Shouldn't be crossed over the free threshold...

Mine took a couple of hours for the wooshes to go away. It even says it might be the case on the authorization page. Might not be the same for the mulab version though. Maybe wait a few hours and see if its still there :tu:

I just had a chat with the dev: Please feel free to use all features of the MultiForm Oscillator (The grain samples are waveforms not really "samples" in the tradition sense - so you cant make a real life Drum kick / tuba or piano), and the Mac MUX version inside of MuLab is identical top the windows VST version, so it is legit to use.

So just no Sampler. That makes things nice and simple.
Thanks, this would be really nice if I understood what you were talking about :hihi: What grain samples/waveforms? Is there any tutorials -- this thing is really deep? Will see if the manual is there.

Thanks, I think I figured it out. It was my fault: I selected per-part MIDI channel, but the free version only lets you have 1 MIDI channel per track. Was trying to find creative workarounds. (I have some other creative workarounds... MUX is so flexible). I'm limited to using MuLab, as I'm using the Mac for this...

Wow, been playing around with this today building racks for the FX and such. Just wicked  :tu:

Here are some tips for the builders:

1. Create some shortcuts. There isn't much in the list by default and they make working with MUX much faster.

2. Use the browser to drag in modules instead of right-clicking each time

3. Only the PolySynth can handle polyphony so on most occasions use that.

4. Leave at least a day or two to actually write the music for your track

MuLab and MUX Modular Docs are here:
http://mutools.com/info/docs/index.html

Video tutorials are on the MuTools channel:

You can download MuLab Demo Projects near the bottom of this page, along with MUX preset packs:

Finally, there are some user modules in the KVR downloads section, and
the MuTools forum has many handy hints.

These effects are a bit unfinished and from an earlier version so the new cool front panel features are not implemented.
Perhaps they are of use to someone. The trance gate is pretty neat.

Good luck, everyone! Mux is ultra deep so will be hard to finish in time :D

By the way, how will we do instance count this month... Considering you may have a Mux in a Mux in a Mux ad infinitum (Muxception!)...
Is it ok to only count the instances exposed to the DAW...?
Should we count effect-Mux separate from instrument-Mux?
:-o Incredible  :tu:  Seems I have a way to go with some of my own creations....

Gonna end up purchasing this crazily addictive thing ....I just know it

MUX ...not even once! :hihi:

Post

Is there any chance Mac users can get a 1 month key for MuLab so we can participate?
Surely it is great marketing towards potential customers

Hey, does anyone know the best way to squeeze performance out of this thing? I've been using oscillators, but it seems like they're free running, always calculating... I see there's a "Main Envelope" for the Poly Synth (this is part of MUX, right? I'm using MuLab on Mac), is there a "Main Envelope" for a generic MUX instance? Or do I need to wrap everything up in a Poly Synth?

*Mac Users Rejoice!!*
The dev has generously released an october key for MuLab (which contains MUX). So if you're on a mac, go download MuLab and use the key ASAP and :band: :band: :band: :band:

This Key also works to unlock the Windows version of MuLab as well

I've updated the OP with relevent info: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7#p6254497
Or go to the OSC google page: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/osc-80-mux

Don't yet know all of this, but... you can set the oscillators phase if you go a little deeper.
eg in the a synth patch front end click 'show modular area' button, then double click the polysynth module, double click the 'MF Osc' module, then click 'Layers' button - deep edit tab. Here the phase for each layer can be set from 0-359 or 'free'
hope this helps :)

Indeed for building a synth patch you best use a PolySynth module as that's the one that can do polyphonic voices.
See http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mux/polysynth.html
Indeed best to set a 'main envelope' so that a voice knows when it has ended, otherwise voices may keep on running and consuming cpu too long. If any more questions, just ask :)

Tip: A good way to check out MUX synth architecture is to have a deeper look at the "Basic Synth" patch.
Or you can also just start playing with that "Basic Synth" patch, cause it may look simple but you can already get many sounds out of it.

Thanks, really the question was more... if I have a bunch of oscillators, will they automatically stop calculating when an envelope ends or "all" the envelopes finish? Lets say the patch has multiple sub-MUXes, each with their own set of envelopes. Will it be limited to calculating each MUX's release individually based on the envelopes and free up CPU as all the envelopes end or will the larger, container MUX cause them to continue calculating? Is there a way I can look at a patch and figure out (e.g. if it's not a poly synth)? I hope that makes sense... (and this is indeed a fun thing to use; you should hurry up with the Mac version of MUX!).
