Hello Richard,
thank you for your kind message... :)
I am afraid the beta is still not ready. I was always bad at making time estimates, sorry about that.

Next week I'll upload screenshots. Now the user interface colors (every detail) can be customized very flexibly. The keyboard shortcuts are being reworked, even external MIDI events can be assigned to "actions". The shortcuts work depending on the focus group, which can be the "track headers", "workspace", "timeline", "master track".
e.g. pressing '+' will mean adding a new track when the focus is on "track headers", adding a bar when the "timeline" is in focus, adding a phrase when the "workspace" is in focus, etc. Similarly delete/cut/copy/paste will work everywhere. The structure can be displayed over the timeline, e.g. "< Part1 → Line 1 >< Part 1 → Line 2 >", etc.
There is still a lot to do, but I am excited about the improvements, many of which came from users on this forum. :tu:

Have a nice day!
Attila

Hi,
i don't know if its still exist in version 3
or reported already :

idea tool opens all of the progressions that in the browser if you want to use "Select From List"
so impossible ( well almost :) ) to delete all of them and use just selected one (s) .

RC v2.92b5 x64 Standalone

Post

We should forget about this because the Idea Tool will be part of the composition (there will be an 'idea' view) so this will be rewritten.
Thanks for reporting it!

Hi,

is this already reported,
or anyone can confirm this?

Post

Confirmed. Tried multiple velocity setting tools and crashed each time.

System Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, x64
Intel Core 2 Quad, Q9300 @ 2.50 GHz
6 GB RAM

EDIT: forgot to give RC version; 2.92b5, x64, stand alone.

The release version 2.9 does not exhibit the behavior.

Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

Best,
dsan

Thanks dsan, i am fine :)
i Hope you are doing well too!

i just couldn't resist to send but
probably this was unnecessary report..
because v3 seems right on the corner

Post

I'm fine, thank you.

I think it was correct to send the report. That's the purpose for BETA versions.

Otherwise, it's possible it could be carried over into v3.

I'm sure Attila wants to know every bug and wants to fix them. He has been adamant about bugs....he hates them ;)

Cheers!

Hello! i am new to RC and just trying the demo version. i also get a crash every time when editing velocity with a tool but not individual velocities. this is on both a Win7 32 machine i tried and a winXP i tried.

also, all the vsti can be added EXCEPT the IK Philharmonik and Sampletank 2. RC say they crashed while loading (immediately). they work fine in all my other DAWs and hosts. they do work in the winXP machine under RC though, but not Win7 32.

These two issues are definitely deal-breakers for me.

i hope these can be fixed as i would like to purchase this great and useful soft in the very near future.

Thank you yellukhan, dsan, nexussynth for reporting this bug. This was already fixed a month ago, but at the moment, I am unable to build the old v2.9x versions.
I hope to upload the first v3 beta version with many (but not all) new features in about a week.

>also, all the vsti can be added EXCEPT the IK Philharmonik and Sampletank 2

I am not surprised. In the past there have been many issues with IK MM instruments. RC crashes because of their copy protection, because these plug-ins execute program code in data segments. IK MM suggested to turn off DEP for RapidComposer, or you may try to run RC as Administrator. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Attila

I agree, RC is not alone having this problem with IKM product, especially the "Sample" series.

Here, I was forced to run some of my DAW's as administrator to get SampleTank (2) and the other "Sample" series to recognize the license; which in turn caused issues with drag and drop on Windows.

Don't let this issue disuade you nexussynth. You have a work around available to be able to use your IKM products, if you choose to do so, and RC is definitely worth the investment. (Personally, I've all but given up on IKM - rarely use the S series anymore.)

As for the bugs, all software has bugs. They may or may not come into play depending the system used.

But one thing for certain - Attila is quite repsonsive, hates bugs and squashes them ASAP, and is very active in the development of Rapid Composer, unlike several other developers I could name.

He is constantly updating this software, listens to users needs and implements FR's faster than any other developer around. Again, unlike several others around.

Not to mention he is an extremely good guy :tu: He is the sort of developer I prefer to support. He gives back ;)

Personally, I see good things coming in RC and look forward to the development. I have no doubt it will be one of the best programs for music out there in the future.

Cheers!

thank you, running RC as administrator allows me to add the IK stuff.

came across a blog where someone there mentioned that the velocity editing bug doesn't affect the 64 bit version only 32?

anyway i think this will be most useful as a sketchpad sort of thing and that is why i like to use the IK synths for this and then import to Sonar.

it will be little while yet and then i most likely will be jumping in.

thanks for the mostly fully functional demo which allows to really see if it will work for a given composer. and thanks for the immediate help! :tu:
