Everyone I need some help please. Have sent a request to support and on GS, trying everyone here as well.
I own all the full versions of Soundtoys native bundle 4.43, DevilLocDeluxe, LittleAlterboy,LittlePrimalTap, Microshift and Radiator ,LittleLAterboy5. These have been working fine (apart from a minor issue where presets save but as zero byte files and do not recall). The workaround was to save as vstresetfiles in cubase.
Running Windows 8.1Pro x64 with Cubase 8.0.3x64 all soundtoys versin installed are x64 (no x32). ilok driver and latest software version as of today.
Upgraded to Soundtoys 5.0.1.10771, LittleAlterboy 5.0.1.10771, PrimalTap 5.0.1.10771 and the problem has got worse.
Note everything is installed to the deafult locations without any custom configuration or shortcut locations (symbolic links).
On launching Cubase8 during the vst 2 plugin scan I get the following error :
Alert
"Soundtoys Crystallizer, Version 5.0.1 ERROR: Cannot create Soundtoys version root folder at Soundtoys 5"
"Alert
"Soundtoys Devil-Loc, Version 5.0.1 ERROR: Cannot create Soundtoys version root folder at Soundtoys 5"
Then Cubase stops working usual 3 options debug, close, etc.
Close and relaunch everything loads however crystallizer and Devil-Loc are now blacklisted so not showing in Cubase.
All other plugins showing the rack show in the inserts.
However selecting any of the plugins produces the same error pop alert with the same message above
ie EchoBoy v5 :"Soundtoys EchoBoy, Version 5.0.1 ERROR: Cannot create Soundtoys version root folder at Soundtoys 5"
I'm shortly going to roll back to v4.43 until a new update or support get back to me. Frustrating.
I've tried other DAWs Maschine (NPlugin App scanner crashes, Reaper 4.x same issue crashes so not exclusive to Cubase.
Any help much appreciated.
UPDATE REALLY PISSED OFF>>>BY upgrading to v5 the version 4.43 licenses have been surrendered. I NOW HAVE NO SOUNDTOYS PLUGINS THAT WORK!
Im sure I've done everything correctly, but really hoping its something simple if I've made a mistake.
Edit I have also ensured I have istalled the sountoys v5 installer with admin rights, I am so confident this is pointing to a permissions issue with the installer and plugins?

Can you see where the plugins get installed to via explorer? And verify that they are indeed there?
I have a custom location and I don't quite remember the default location.

Yes all the plugins are in the hosts vst directory, same as every other plugin I've installed and working.
There is one odd thing. Yesterday I did have all but the three plugins mentioned working but no presets.
So decided to uninstall and clean install after reboot and the saga begins.
Thanks

Ok Im almost there
RESOVLED I think!
Bascially I originally had Cubase7 installed and upgraded to Cubase8 leaving all plugins and news ones in the cubae7 vstplugin folder.
I uninstalled Soundtoys5, rebooted system, ccleaned reg and apps. Loaded cubase without soundtoys installed.
Installed soundtoysv5 to cubase8 vstplugin folder with all Existing non soundtoys plugins left where they already are and have been, cubaes vstplugin folder.
Launched cubase8 and hey presto all working.
Appears soundtoys plugins have to be in the daws root folder?!
However there was one other thing that I did notice.
Today I had with courtesy of soundtoys, primaltap license deposited in my account post soundtoys5 upgrade which had to be activate/surrendered. Weather or not this had any bearing I do not know, but I am not going through the process of uninstalling v5 that is working.
Took 4+ hours but got there in the end.
However any presets are still saving as zero bytes files reporting :

Not checked a 100 percent. But what I did test seemed ok on the surface.Dip200 wrote:Are you sure recalling projects v4 work ? I made a test project and some settings are not recalled properly.
Copied all V4 presets to the root soundtoys v5 preset folder but did not overwrite existing files. So only any non v5 factory presets copied across.
Placed the bat file in the soundtoys v5 preset folder and it appear to work when run with admin rights in windows.
Before running the bat file they didn't show in the GUI plugins menus. Post bat execution they did and what presets I recalled seem to work ok.

Thanks for the feedback, glad it seems to work for you. Overall the v5 update looks nice, I like the new tweak window in particular. However, I meant recalling Cubase projects, not presets.
Here is what I noticed:
- recalled 2 projects made with v4 and the sound is actually OK (phew)
- however, Crystallizer has a visual bug, showing the midi and reverse switch in a wrong position
- this visual bug even occurs when recalling a project originally made with v5
Gotta test some more to be sure what's going on.

Hi, MFXxx, you have custom folders for each version of Cubase?
That is imho an unusual way to have it set up.
I am on Nuendo on PC (and Cubase on Mac) and SB's default folder for non SB's plugins afaik is C:/Program Files/Steinberg/Vst
or something like that...that way even when you upgrade Cubase it will still have one repository.
Glad you are up and running...

Dip200 let me see if I can replicate your bug........
New to me.

Hello,
please be careful with this update:
Upgrading to V5 the version V4 licenses are taken away from your iLok account and your existing work do no more load as it should !
You could not go back by installing the V4 plugins again, they ask for activation and do not load!!!!
Expected that the V5 is working also to work with the V4 version, like cubase does, if you have version 8 you also could work with a older version 5, 6, 7 if needed.
Projects that were made new or old ones that you reworked and saved with V5 are ok when you recall them.
best

Sorry but do not kill the messenger:
You can not go back to V4 because your license is only for V5 it does not !!!!!! work with V4 plugins….
I call this real professional work and for the customer like MFXxx wrote: Frustrating.
They should give us the V4 license back !!!!!!!

There are in each old plugin. For instance they changed the tweak window quite a bit. They got much better now. Especially for Filterfreak and Echoboy.hmmm. that's a bit of a bummer. would have been kool if, you know, there were some enhancements or optimizations.
so what was this whole, long, drawn out development process for.... the rack ? and ditching ilok ?
And I don't think it's trivial to develop such a rack, where you can freely add and move plugins.
