ok.. so the DSP2000 is an oldish cardd... hmm.. i suppose the Delta1010 LT would also fall in the same bracket ??? if i were to choose which one would it be ? Delta 1010 LT or the STA DSP2000 c port ???
my budget would be around this only... if i were to wait longer i might be able to throw in something like the presonus Firepod. Worth the wait ??

dsp2000 is an oldish card (I'm selling mine btw - £180 if you're interested) and it's a good little workhorse however -
the emu sounds alot better - but you only have ASIO drivers atm - and they're not as solid as the WDM drivers for the dsp2000.
In fact I can get the latency lower on my cport than the emu. I think this is mainly because the emu drivers are pretty new and still being worked on.
The current dsp drivers are also not multi-card - but apparently they're releasing multi-card drivers soon. (it's always soon with them though)
Kind regards
Dave Rich.

the card will not sound any worse than the Delta series ? and if i were to give it a thought.. getting it shipped to india is not really a very viable option, or is it ?

yes theoretically you can run 4 cards together.- however,
I've only ever heard of anyone running 3,- and they usually have problems.
And of course you need to use the old drivers.
Bear in mind that the cport also uses Unbalanced connections apart from the 2 xlr ins and 2 xlr outs.
Kind regards

I bought my c-port when it was still rather new and was still called STAudio ADC/DAC 2000, and yes, I have had some problems with drivers and setup. But nothing since ESI wrote the new drivers for it.
I'd say it's a good card which has served me well. If you can get a good deal - go for it!
On the other hand there are probably more current cards that can do the exact same things. But I no longer have any stability or latency issues.

are you implying that the new drivers cannot support multi cards ??? (not that ill be needing it, but it's nice to know) if so, why would they publisize this and the new driver together ?? (or are the new drivers in beta ? )I've only ever heard of anyone running 3,- and they usually have problems.

how much of a difference does this really make ??? the XLR outputs will feed the monitors... the rest headphone feeds and all.. maybe an alternate reference...Bear in mind that the cport also uses Unbalanced connections apart from the 2 xlr ins and 2 xlr outs.
as far as inputs are concered, line outs of most budget mixers are unbalanced (?) and so are the outputs of keyboards and all.. guitars and mics get Di/pre'd into a mixer (instance,Behringer UB series) and the outputs into the card..
but to be serious i really do not understand this much.

a new card would cost me bout 50% more than what the M-audio 1010LT would cost me.... well???I'd say it's a good card which has served me well. If you can get a good deal - go for it!

I use the staudio ADC & DAC 2000. Been using it since in came out. I like it. Had no problems. Breakout box is good. It's headphone out (with volume) I find essential. And handy to have the extra midi in/out. Pre-amps merely ok. Haven't tried the newer Ego drivers, the older version is working great for me. Was great for the money.

that's right sidhu - the new drivers do not support multi card.
The performance of the older drivers is alot less than the newer ones.
As for balanced/unbalanced - it depends. If you have noisy unbalanced signals then you'll wish that they were balanced. If not - then you wont worry about it
Kind regards
Dave Rich.

I'm afraid I dumped my C-Port for a Delta and I've been delighted with the switch. I had pops and crackles galore with the C-Port and one of the mic pres was physically knackered. Nothing would fix it. Switched to the Delta and changed sample rate from 48 to 44.1 and it worked like a charm.

The Delta 1010 or the others ??? ive read it's only the 1010 that has some sort of actual balanced IO (i read bout it being floated etc.. but im no good with this)Trojan Badger wrote:I'm afraid I dumped my C-Port for a Delta and I've been delighted with the switch. u say u switched from 48 to 44.1.... what are u implying ????

thanks...

the delta is a better card,-
however it has no preamps as far as i know ,- and certainly no xlr inputs.
All the connections are balanced t.r.s. type.
You would need preamps as well if you're looking to record microphones,- of course you could get a mixing desk with direct outs for this job - or the behringer although I'm not sure the delta has an adat port.
Kind regards

The Delta 1010 LT (NOT the 1010) has two mic pre inputs (XLR). So does the Omni and studd but those are the regular 44's/66's witha breakput box.daverich wrote:the delta is a better card,-
