Been awfully quiet over there in Prop land... How long has it been since 2.5? I can't even remember... I wonder if this Live 4.0 put a serious dent in their plans? Are they reassesing their strategy? I'm wondering: do they just update the instruments, make it a vitual rack thing and de-emphasize the sequencer... Or go head to head with tough competition in the virtual studio/sequencer market?? Overall, I'd like to see a few more instruments added, some sequencer upgrades and audio recording added to Recycle, which would solve one of the biggest problems quickly... Doesn't seem like it would have taken this long??

Speculation on this is rife and cyclical around here. I think they're trying to build The Last Word, the Doomsday Machine. I don't think they'll depart from any part of concept, they'll augment it to the point where R3 is an obvious one-stop-shop for anybody who wants to make a CD: the emphasis will be on interconnection, fiddling. They probably won't get around to the mastering stuff in R3 but my guess is all the devices will get a spanking upgrade and that there'll be something for the wow factor too like a madcap synth. It'll be fun... But VST support, no way. IMHP...

Hi

Being a recent devotee to 'the cause' I would suggest that (although I would love it personally) any kind of vst support within Reason would totally compromise the whole point of the semi-closed system that propellerheads have created - and that would be stability - and you can argue - use REWIRE!

I would love to see a revamp of the sequencer implementation though - for me this aspect of Reason is making me seriously consider buying a second monitor!

People talk about 'more synths' like they are the only things you can make music with - it is a sad reflection of the 'addiction' value of these bloody things that cause these comments - I have a bundle of vsti's and it is liberating to get away from the F...... things - or at least to have a bare minimum and utilise other option like the 3 very unique and flexable samplers and the massive range of sounds avalible in various refills or redrum or matrix or the cv routing possibilities.

I'm with you there... I was very close to getting rid of everything (VST/AU) and focusing solely on Reason... I've already got a killer workflow down with it, and I have more sounds and refills than I could possibly use in a million years... ...Add the cpu friendlyness, on my old G4, and it was too good to pass up! But now, I have a dual G5, so I'm gonna give it one more go... I had hoped the Props would give a hint or something to help me decide, but I guess not?

I can still can do anything (I need to do) in Reason, though...

Hi

My friend is switching from a G5 back to a PC because he say's he is missing out on a lot of the software - my point is he uses Reason (in part) to make loads of commercially released music - but yes I have only had Reason a couple of weeks and feel that the focus comes into play much easier - although I do like using Logic because its so easy to get yer vst's up!
