Exact same thing happened to me, it was super frustrating. Then I realized... oh crap I had a 3 Hour troll song i made. I used a stretcher tool to stretch one of my 3 min songs to 3 hours :D :D Woops. Deleted that, and problems solved.

They REALLY need a screen that shows songs by minutes sorted to easy eye ball stuff

I ended up having to use the old uploader at Soundcloud for some reason.

I shared it to the group, but it is awaiting approval.

Nope it was messing up somehow. Kept saying I had 49 tracks even though I had deleted a bunch of old ones. It is corrected now. I may have over-deleted. lol but oh well. I'm always making new stuff any way.

That's soundcloud for you

Am I correct in assuming that if I'm a Mac user I can't use Ableton for this one, I'd have to use MuLab as the DAW instead?

That's a shame. I'm sure it's workable but I just don't have time to learn a new DAW... I guess I'm out again.

Look forward to hearing everyone's entries, this looks like a more powerful synth than usual!

You'll find MuLab pretty easy to use - give it a go, you might find ten minutes is all you need and you've lost nothing, compared with what you have to gain :).

Sadly, I've accepted I'm utterly useless at writing a "piece of music" in any sense... so I'll just be watching.

You assumption is correct. I am a Logic User and have found the transition to MuLab to be very easy. It's pretty straightforward and has a good facility for you to add your own key commands. Of course it will not be as comfortable as using your regular DAW, but the learning curve is really pretty light and you can be up and running in literally minutes.

The "compose" area corresponds to the arrange tracks, and the mixing desk of racks along the bottom is like any other mixer. It just looks a little different and has a kind of odd facility for defining pre/post mix inserts and sends. Once you read the instructions it's all pretty clear.

The synth section is very powerful, mostly in the sense that you can build your own custom synth very easily, and even put together a quick "front panel" that gives you convenient controls. This took a little time to figure out,but it's all pretty intuitive if you understand the basic signal flows of synths and mixing boards.

Give it a shot. I am going to keep my piece very simple just because it's going to take longer with everything in different places, but all the functionality that you need is there.

I'm having trouble with midi control. I tried assigning the mod wheel to control envelope decay and it does not work at all. MuLab recognizes the incoming midi info, but there is no effect on the sound. Has anyone else encountered a problem with midi control.

I also tried assigning a different controller (# 30) and then making an automation track and that also had no effect.

Thanks.

No problem here. Let me know if you need more details.

I second pljones.
Long long time Live user and I actually use MuLab more than any other Daws for starting any project (and finish them too as well quite often).
Very freaking easy to use and addictive.

Just try it so you can discover this monster calld MUX. :D

Created with 35 instances of MUX.

Used ReaEQ, ReaComp, StereoEnhancer, GlaceVerb and Limiter No 1. all other effects are straight from MUX.

To create some of the sounds I used a lot of granular synthesis and I also drew in my own waveforms for the spectral synthesis and thus I created my own sounds. I used some presets from the analog percussion, some of them were deceiving as not all percussion was synthesized. I also used a 1024 bit size waveform from a vocal sample and used it as a source of synthesis in the multi form oscillator. While this is still questionably within rules it is ultimately up to you to decide whether I should be DQed....hehe im sorry but once again i had to push the boundaries a little, everything else is legal. This is my favorite work so far, as it is the genre that got me making electronic music. I have pulled in all the knowledge I have acquired over the last 3 years and placed them all into this one song. Thank you MUX for having the features that enable the creation of such sounds. Enjoy everyone...

Anyone mind sharing how to setup sidechain compression in MuLab? I think I've built a MUX that should do the trick: 2 audio inputs appropriately hooked up to a Level Compressor. However, I haven't the foggiest idea how to route my kick to the sidechain Audio 2. I suppose I could fake it with an equivalent sequence inside the MUX, so that's plan B if y'all're like, NOPE.

You can just go into the modular section of Mulab itself and drag the audio cables around to route whatever you want through the level compressor's audio inputs. Does that answer it or am I missing something? Side note: I took a totally different approach for sidechaining with the monstrosity I'm working on.
