As the topic said I moved to a new house and there's pretty much only 1 room available where I can build my studio. There are more rooms in the house, but they are at the level where we sleep, so my wife rather does not want me to sit there creating music. :D :D

The room where I can make the noise looks like this;
Image

The window and the door on the top is going to garden side. The right wall is to the kitchen and the left wall (where the stairs go) is the neighbor wall. The other one below is the main hall.

I think the room is bad or maybe I'm wrong... but I have to make the best of it. Room treatment will done in the future.

On what side of that room would you suggest to put down my speakers etc. ?

See the red where I think I should place the desk with speakers, facing the backside of the speakers to the that wall.

Curious what you experienced guys come up with, maybe it's not that bad after all?

Thanks guys!

All the studios in the world are rectangular and that's for a purpose. Wrong life choice. :shrug:

Well the room is more difficult than a rectangular as those are ideal rooms. I have a spare room down where I can make music non stop without bothering anyone.

Anyway, after discussing with a specialist we pretty much nailed the acoustics in the room. It required a bit more panels etc, but the sound is there.

Wrong life choice? Nope don't think so. 8)

I don't work on a daily basis with room acoustics but I am an acoustic engineer. After working a lot with anechoic chambers I have 2 suggestions you should keep in mind. The first is that the speakers should point to a wall that is as far away as possible. For every meter sound travel thru the air it will loose some energy. Straight angles are your enemy. Its a little bit like stealth technology. There is a reason to why stealth airplanes and ships looks funny. Make sure your listening position is correct. You will never have a good room without sound treatment, dampers, etc, but once its done I am sure your room will not be so bad. Youtube is a good source to find information and good tips :wink:
