We hear music every where, the grocery store, the elevator, in plains, trains and automobiles.
We want to hear it all the time.
Why?
"Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak." William Congreve
Why do you make music?

I like making music. I like to study it and learn new stuff. I like it how stuff learned at music making is applicable in other art forms I do.SampleScience wrote:And you, why do you make music?
But what I really LOVE is performing to audience. Sadly my own music still sucks so that performing is only dj'ing other people music but the day when my music is good enough.. The thrill of performing my own music to audience will most propably make me one happy bunny.

I have no interest in preforming nowadays (use to be guitar/singers in bluesy band, we sucked) but I love the home studio man cave and all the techy stuff (I am an Engineer by profession). I play guitar/Bass and drums (Roland TD8) and like most here have several DAWS and too many VST's...I write/finish/produce less music every year (the more stuff I have the less music I produce but the more fun I have...its just a hobby to me, so I take the fun- no one wants to listen to my music....buts that's OK as its the process I like, not the end results. It's OK to just to lots of rough sketches before you eventually paint the masterpiece
Recently I got in to modular synthesis and have found a new passion, it isn't so much about the music, but the massive technical puzzle and frequent surprises that come from patching- I just like to get lost in tech, and modular is about as geek as geek can be

It's fun. It's a Mount Everest. It's a way to be personal.
It's a more creative alternative to procreation. And it also can be done in about 3 minutes and doesn't have to be tantric nor melodic.
It let's you make all the decisions.
