...there's a hint of (the) Crystal Meth(od) there almost...
Got some groovy sounds to it but have to agree with mindless on the fattening/phattening of it.
and...
...is one of the snare hits out of time?!? :?
Anyho- yeh, more beats - blinding bit of compression - couple of big hits here and there - couple more filters. Luvly!!! :) (Just needs drive)

Now what was that about pole-ticks?! Ticks that climb poles?!! [and back to la-la-land with me]

In the lyrics of Civil War by GnR
I went numb, when i learned to see
Well, im glad that people dont get numb here. As someone said, when musicians stop to care, or when they are not allowed to care (kinda like here) we are walking with Dante. (to hell that is)
This question we are all discussing will probably be one of the most important of my generation (im 24).
How do we want our world to evolve? How about enviroment? How about peace? How about media that works for the people and not the corps? How about no corruption? How about less greed? How about health? How about equality?

I know that the human race works in a certain way (greed is one of the reasons why we exist for instance). But should a person who cheats, corrups, lies and with a huge portion of greed really lead a country, witch destiny affects the rest of the world?

This is not a problem only in the US. We have the same problems here in sweden, but in a lesser extent. I will do what i can here in sweden and i will cheer for those in the US who struggle for the same thing i am.

Of course not.. but Bill Clinton can't be president again so no worries.

Yo' Druu... People are morons.. so when you simplify your message, it doesn't translate in the way you would have hoped.

I'd sooner walk with Dante than with Bush, espescially with his evangelical attitude towards the world.

Amberience, I'm with you. Bush is dangerous.

Thanks for the comments, d2k. The snare does move around just a little as I played the drum parts then left them unquantized. I tweaked the timing a little, but didn't want the drums to sound too mechanical by quantizing them. I'm still thinking about the fattening issue. Any tips?

Thanks, Xander. I'll definitely keep on posting! :)

Vitamin D, I got your point. I think you exaggerated, that's all. I hear what you mean about the Altemark tune. Yeah, that's artfully done. That wasn't the vibe I was going for with this track, though. My idea was to provide an upbeat tune that might appeal to the younger crowd working to get Bush out of office. A tune that might be played at one of the many parties going on in Boston these next few night, for instance. Actually, a few copies of this track and my "Get Rid of Your Bush" hip-hop track are in the hands of delegates to the convention. With a little luck, maybe they will get played at a party or two. (My fingers are crossed)

Fattening: I would run them trough a dirty compressor (and that is blockfish?) and then add some bass after it (perhaps 60-100hz).

The snares .. quantize them more. I know you wrote you did not want them to sound mechanical, but this doesnt even sound human. To humanize it i would add some swing, and use iterative quantize. If you use cubase se/sl/sx, use a midi insert (quantizer). Set strength to 75-90, swing to 55-65 and it should be 16th of course. Strength will let you controll how quantized it will be, a great function. Swing moves the 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16 in a 16th note pattern forward. If you already know about this, i appologize ;)

Thanks for the tips, Crackbaby. Regarding compression, are you talking about running all the drums through (kick, snare & hat) or just kick? I think I ran the kick through CamelPhat. I'll have to check... Yeah, I'll look at the quantizing issue again.

Run them all trough it :D
I read a superb article about programming drums, how to make them sound human. I think it was in swedish and i dont remember where :) So that didnt help that much .. hehe
*accessing memory of the crackbaby*

Oh yeah, the hihats for example, tap the rythm with a pen on a table or something. Listen how hard you hit it. In a 16th pattern, 1st, 4th, 8th and 12th usually is a little harder (more velocity). The ones in between 2,6,10 and 14 is also a little harder, but not as much. Some may be harder or softer, depending on what the other hand (or foot) does. Programming drums is coool 8)

Thanks again, Crackbaby. I'm going to play with the track tonight and see what I come up with.
