So i've had a brief demo of this. Like TkDelay, its immediately clear and a well laid-out interface, very quick and easy to make interesting patches from scratch (although it needs an INIT patch or function).
It sounds nice too, as a standard reverb its got a fairly natural sound. As a more creative plugin it shows potential, especially for crafting weird inharmonic tails. The ability to design spectral curves is a nice feature well-executed.
I'll agree with other posters here, some sort of modulation is needed to help create less static tones, an assignable LFO would be a great addition. I'd also welcome some sort of compressor (and maybe saturation) on the wet signal to add a bit more life to it.
It's a nice intro price and the demo restriction is really good too so i'll be testing it more thoroughly over the next month.

Great stuff!! bought it after a 15 min test
some suggestion...
1. Some more modulation (multiple LFO, step sequencers etc..)
2. VST automation for envelope points

Looking forward to test it, I just bought it without testing... The idea alone sounded so good, combined with the cool intro price... I couldn't resist!

Yeah, this is an interesting resonant filter implementation - it sort of reminds me of the hidden power of Glacecube. Not in sounds; in the sonic potential.. this goes from weird reverb to hi pass filter to sine wave resynthesis sort-a-thing.. it's cool!
But yes, it feels like it's missing some modulation of sorts, but not just plonking an LFO and envelope follower and providing source/target destinations - maybe it could do with something a bit more interesting to suit the vibe of the plugin..
Maybe some of the new users here have completely original modulation source ideas? Mine would be a crude pitch/sibilance/noise detector..
Quite an original plugin release! Not something which comes along very often..
Good work! I look forward to having this as part of my collection of noise breakers

Have to agree with the others. As much as I like the basic possibilities and idea, I found the result very static sounding. I wonder if per-node/mode-LFOs like for instance in Relayer would help here?
ATM I don't feel inclined to add Moodal to my arsenal, I didn't come up with anything inspiring in my first test...
Cheers,
Tom

Website desperately crying for few audio demos! C’mon.
Very curious and interested, but no time to download for now nor test. Audio demos would do the job tho….

Holy Moses I need to praise this one, because it totally deserves the effort.
I promised myself I would not buy any new vst plugins, but just couldn't resist buying this one after demoing.. It just sounds really good, is very easy to use and quite friendly for the cpu for what it does. And what it is supposed to do it does really well imho. Beefing up boring sounds or beating the shizzle out of them with ultimate resonance.. and going all wet you can drive it straight into drone-territory
The multipoint envelopes make it a flexible little beast.
Like the TkDelay it shows that there went a lot of small-developer-love and care into this plugin. It has that instant "Audio Damage-like" vibe/quality and instantness (and price range! well.. the intro price) that I love so much
Tritik, you have a new fan.
LFO modulation would be a nice addition thought

Ok, so I had some free time and decided to dive into Moodal since I was very intrigued & I love resonator effects in general.
Really cool and fun effect! It's clean, simple, easy to draw the points and very user friendly. Sounds rich & deep, or very metallic, weird and atonal. Great great potential there, love it. Except the general consensus about having modulations and lfo's to make it sound more organic and less static, I don't have anything else to add! Totally agree with the dev: Moodal is a one-of-a-kind resonance engine.
Love the free update for life model too, well chosen.
I can't buy it right now but it's on my top priority list to get as soon I have the chance. Count on me.
Great job man

I gradually discovered the hidden quality of Moodal as I took the time to explore it with different sounds (TkDelay, the same way). Another new fan here.

I chime in: Great plugin, especially for that intro price. Cool resonating effects and some special reverbs possible. Even "normal" reverbs can be done with it, especially short small rooms sound quite nice.
I'd also say that some modulators would be a very nice add-on. Nevertheless even without you get cool effects out of it. If you still need some movement, you can add a phaser or something else after it. My suggestions for modulation sources and destinations:
- Any points in the modal density, decay times and gains. They should be modulated in the x and y axis. I realized that when I moved some points with the mouse. It delivers a great change in sound.
- Obviously the filter: Both filter points and the filter bar (see below)
- Also obviously: f0-Hz parameter, inharmonicity, relaxation, master decay, width, dry and wet. Not sure if possible, but if, then please also number of resonators.
- To have enought possibilities, I'd suggest at least 3 LFO and 2 ENV.
- The ENV should be able to follow the input or the sidechain, or to be triggered by MIDI.
- Interesting would be when the LFOs go up to a couple kHz.
First thing I noticed, where I'd really like to see a change: Filter bar. It should be possible to grab the bar itself and move both filter points at once, this could be then also modulated (see above)
A lot of ideas, that don't mean this plugin isn't worth anything. On the opposite: Everybody looking for special effects or resonating effects must get it. I can highly recommend it.

i, for one, am always interested by complete harmonisation, I mean to choose a note of a scale (A1, D#4, etc...) rather than just a basic frequency + a palette of scales, based on that basic note

I really like this plugin! It can bring some natural acoustic qualities to audio recordings.
I think I've found an unintended bug in the modal density curve function. Setting one of the points to the very minimum (left and down) and another to the very right (and at any level), and then adjusting the level of the right point, seems to make no change in the modal density plot, or rather the density isn't following the curve at these extremes.
Can you give any insight to how the modal frequencies are chosen or generated?

Thanks you all for your comments!
It's really nice to hear what you think about Moodal and get your feedback!
Tritik now has a soundcloud : https://soundcloud.com/tritikaudio/sets
There's no many sounds for now, but more will be added soon!

Thanks for reporting it! I'll fix that for the next release.camsr wrote:I think I've found an unintended bug in the modal density curve function.
