Dark is easily my favorite, but there are some great ones out there. I like The Zebra Orchestra and Valkyrie, right now I'm deciding on whether I should buy Transmission or Science (I'm leaning toward Transmission because of all the extra waveforms).

I've been checking this one out, I like the Unfinished stuff, and this one comes in HZ as well. Anyone else already have it? I'm considering picking it up:

Easy answer for this question - hands down, no contest, it's the three Padsheaven sets by Joseph Hollo. Don't be put off by the "pad" designation. There's much more than just pads. Strongest possible recommendation.

Now I saw this, well, I should read first before answering

I'm a fan of the unfinished and picked up the Dark Zebra complete bundle on sale last year. AFAIK it's one of the only commercial soundsets that uses the HZ / Diva filters and tends to be a bit darker and moodier. They offer taster patches for all their bundles so worth giving those a spin first. I believe you get the patches for Zebra + HZ when you buy the Dark Zebra version.

the unfinished also have promotional sales a couple times a year and they have donated to the 'call to arms thread'.

I also wrote Joseph Hollo and encouraged him to design for Dark Zebra. He seemed positive about the possibility. Hopefully other sound designers will target this gap in the market.

The prices for most of these sets are just asinine.

Just picked up Simon Stockhausen's First Encounter, some really creative stuff (easy to figure, given his relation to a great composer). I'm thinking about grabbing the whole set!

Definitely considering the Dark Edition of the Unfinished's Kronos, but it does seem...well, expensive.

If you're not in a rush just wait for the next sale... Black Friday is around the corner! :hyper:

I don't have Zebra but I've heard some awesome 80s styled stuff by Michael Kastrup. He really nails that sound!
