Please keep the original arrangement in mind, people. Have a focus on a powerful main lead vocal. If you want to double anything, then maybe only do it for the chorus.
Compyfox, please do not change the rules during the contest!

I made a version with a doubled chorus, which I personaly prefered. But according to the rule and your reminder I deleted this version and made just the one required vocal track. And now, after I posted my mix you are changing this rule !?!?!?!

That is not fair to all who allready have posted their mixes earlier!

I assumed that people would do this anyway. So we DO need better wording in the future for comping vocal takes. So there is always a first/learn factor.

Tell you what... Just resubmit your track - it's no big deal and you're usually always the icebreaker of the challenge submissions.

a silly question. what means 'comping vocals'?

Thank you Compyfox!
That is fair. I am lucky that I kept the version with the second vocal track. So I uploaded the new version allready.

It is just to make one vocal track out of multiple takes. Combine the best parts of several performances to one good part. I found a lot on Youtube or articles in Soundonsound etc.

Not long left now right? Looking forward to hearing what people have done. Hopefully there are a few more participants.

I hope so as well. I'd like to keep the deadline for once. :tu:

A short update on things:
In agreement with the song provider, and considering that we only have one(!) entry so far, we're extending the #Rocktober Mix Challenge until 26th October 2015. As usual, the deadline is 11:59pm PDT. Due to the daylight saving time changes this weekend in Europe, that's even an additional hour extra on top of it.

Which spawns a couple of questions that I'd love to get answered:
a) why can't we keep the given deadline if other challenges on KVR are just as capable?
b) is the challenge too hard?
c) is the challenge boring? If so, why?
d) should we do a break? Is so, why?

I'll also ask the same question in the Gossip thread in a minute, to clean up the thread.
So please answer there:

My mix is mostly done, just some automation work left.
I could have finished it already, but if there is still some time left I usually leave it for a couple of days and get back to it for the final tweaks with a fresh mindset.

a) I don't know, I've always been on time so far and extending the deadline is generally a bit unfair to those participants how make sure to finish their mix within the original timeframe
b - d) no

a) In addition to work and family obligations, I'm a procrastinator. I would have been fine with the original deadline, but my mix would have gone up on Friday afternoon most likely. I've only done this for a few months, but that routine seems to be a pretty common occurrence.

c) Not boring, but I'd likely avoid mix challenges where the song is 5+ minutes long.

I'm out on this one, my amp's left channel starting giving troubles(drop-outs) and I don't want to push it and maybe loose a monitor in the process :cry:

Just want to say that the bass/guitar playing on the song is bloody brilliant! Good luck to the song provider and all the contestants.

Nice track Morelia 8)

What I did to it :

Bussed the drums-> STA Enhancer->ReaComp
Bussed the vocals->(ADT)->GSnap->(Eq)->Saturation->ReaVerb->ReaComp
Bass->Boogex(old)->ReaComp
Bussed the guitars L/R/M->ReaComp
Masterbus... Nothing.

No comping, I used all the vocals.

Probably not what you want, but spend some time on it, so why not post?

Have fun.(PLAY IT LOUD)
