It's not the cheapest option unfortunately but there's nothing quite like it...

But their is lots of decent beginner tutes on youtube.

I saw the Korg Legacy Collection included with a 25-key keyboard for $99. Even if you don't need the keyboard, you get all those synths for a good price.

I can't help but think that they have missed the pricing point for Syntorial a bit - it seems the sort of thing that's a no brainer at $25-30 but just too expensive for the casual producer (who massively outnumber all the other types) at $100...I think they are missing out on the long tail..
Sonar Platinum, Ignite and Ableton Live 9 DAWS
AIR Hybrid 3, Synthmaster, Z3ta+2, Addictive Drums 2, True Piano Amber, Rapture, Dim Pro, BFD Eco, AAS Strum, Addictive Keys, Synth 1 VSTs
Nektar LX61, Korg MicroKey and Akai Pro LPD8 Pad

a little pricey but i really admire CABLE-GUYS' confidence in their product...the fact that their demos are fully-functional while allowing for only one instance is a sure sign of pride in their ware. install is a breeze and their GUI's are lush. i'm not so crazy about having so many drums as presets but hey that's nothing to sqwawk about in a free bit of gear really and the sytnh+filters bundle-price is pretty good. not so good is the kind of pride = unrepsonsiveness that comes with buying/installing from SONIC ACADEMY....after falling in love with ANA's sound in like 4-seconds i decided to buy wherein a i watched LIVE 9 crash a half-dozen times after following-closely numerous, conflicting install instructions. first it's this way and next it's that way.... problem is none of them have worked thus far. a car is nice to have but it's useless without a key and worse when the salesman slips away and don't know you all-of-a-sudden. their e-mail reponses are similar to steve WAG's when you have an issue with his soundsets....like half the synthmaster-basses not making any sound?...NADA not good. alas there are the public forums...

for the month of october for under $100 i still recommend
1) synthmaster (because it's everything it claims to be and maybe then some) $75 - $79
2) linplug octopus (because it's so different and different is good) especially for $20
3) sunrizer $50 (because it's pretty, it rocks sonic-fun like few others at the moment..and it installs in 2 seconds)...and their support looks at their e-mail in a timely-manner!

Before you start condemning people, I didn't receive your email because my forwarder stopped working. When I saw on Soundcloud and here that you were having a problem, I checked my host and I did find your unforwarded message and responded to it with a fix for your problem.

Sometimes emails don't get delivered. Things happen. Plus it's only been a few days. What if something happened? What if I lost power? What if I was out of town? There are also other ways to reach me, such as PM here.

But it's okay. You made your sentiments more than known and I'm fine with them. It's funny how the only problem I've ever had in the year I've been selling sound libraries is from a $10 product.

Anyway, if you're still having problems, the email is working now and I've also set up another account as a backup. You can write to me any time and I will usually respond within 24 hours.

So before you start slinging mud, get all the facts.

these are the facts as i understand them...
1) you had a problem with your e-mail while conducting business and didn't notify customers that alternative means of communication might be required if issues arise. you did send me an e-mail receipt so some e-mail service was in effect. i didn't buy your product as a result of yours or my presence here so felt PMing you here would be redundant and unecessary...since i'd already e-mailed you on at least two occasions.
2) i'd sent you a screenshot of what was occurring so you might better understand what i was experiencing on the user-end....and yet instead of looking or asking you're still assuming i'm on windows and providing instructions accordingly....when in fact i'm on a mac.
3) you're selling a product which is known to bug due to some mystery-condition within SYNTHMASTER's design (still being worked on apparently @KV331) and yet you leave it to people to discover this on their own....all for $10.\

i appreciate all the hard-work that goes into synth-design and those who create sounds to go with them....but as a user who subsidizes those efforts i do like a fairly clean sorted-out product and a reliable connection (and time-frame) by which matters might get sorted...if and when they arise.

i'm glad you got your e-mail sorted out.
i sent you another screenshot to illustrate what i got going.
i hope you receive it without too much problem.

Given the quality Of Syntorial and how much you learn from it I think the price is fair.

You can learn synthesis in other ways, no doubt about it. But Syntorial condenses all the trial and error in a structured way that makes learning fast and effective.

To me investing in books or videos instead of Syntorial is a total waste of time.

steve says you're aware of the bug...no reason for me to inundate you with what you already know.
from his e-mail to me sent tonight:

" The presets that don't work is a Synthmaster bug that pops up from time to
time. It is very annoying indeed.

Here is the fix. I wish there was a better one.

Go to "My Documents" (I assume you're on windows) and delete the
"Synthmaster Temp" folder. When you relaunch Synthmaster the folder will
be recreated and your waveforms should show up again. I hope that helps.

Bulent is aware of this but so far has been unable to figure out what's
causing this."

I believe that issue was fixed with version 2.7

i don't believe so....i'm running 2.7 and though it's only merely annoying i am finding patches which provide no sound.
it's not like i can't use the synth...there's plenty of sounds to work with.

not like this huge fail.

I did receive your email and will respond shortly. I may need Bulent's help on this one as I am unfamiliar with MAC architecture.

Hang in there and we'll get this working.

very few things are perfect... we do what we can and fix things when we can. regardless, i still enjoy the hell outta this synth. SyNTHHMASTER is up there among my recommendations.
the latest with sonic academy's ANA and me is that, after grueling painful effort, we're finally installed.
they had me install an additional program (since none of their instructions worked for me after numerous days and attempts = easily a dozen or so) wherein they could remotely-access my computer from the UK and perform the install.
the license-key kept wanting to behave as a presonus key and refused to be deleted. i noticed the tech quickly rewriting something in the file though i'm uncertain what. the key was able to be installed and recognized by ANA as a valid key....wow imagine that. anyway installation is done.....the toughest i've ever experienced. i think it's a very good synth for the money...i immediately love it is a bass-unit...clean punchy clear and easily modified. very usable machine especially for the money. so whoever first brought this to my attention THANKS for the great 'easily affordable-synth' recommend and historical pain-in-the-ass install-experience (hopefully it goes better for most others but he did say 'it happens'). i like this synth quite a lot.

I remember logging in and fixing this for you.

The exact cause of the issue is unclear - but most likely to do with the Key installer. it was fixed by removing the contents of the license folder that was causing the issue.

Apologies again, but im glad its sorted and that you are enjoying the synth. We are working on a new license system to eliminate issues like this in the future - hopefully will be implemented in our next plugin release.

imho Cubase Elements 8 is the most valuable package, not only you got Halion Sonic SE (Trip is dope!) and Beat Agents SE which are the same version as the Cubase Pro instrument, only with less patches/samples. But you got a decent VST3 host and a very mature and good looking DAW. Plus a bunch of quality effect which can be used in a very polished mixer. Is there anything like that for just $99? Plus it support ReWire. The downside is that the instruments are Cubase exclusive, not a regular VST. Ideal if you plan to work in a Cubase environment.
