This thing seems to be the new Holy Grail of IOS Land. http://musicioapp.com/
I've been looking for knowledge on this thing bar contacting the devs but there appears to be scant info out there. I know this app was only officially released two days ago but there have been beta's available for a few months.
My main question is; can I really get digital audio from my Ipad via this app without sacrificing my existing ASIO interface?
Any info much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

It runs better for me on OSX (iOS9 on iPads), but I got it to run OK on Win10 machine (running Sequoia via Soniccore Scope interface).
It doesn't sacrifice your WHOLE ASIO interface, just the port that you assign coming in from USB (or whatever).
The beta is free to test, right?
So why not see what happens?

Don't ask me, I just play here.

Thanks for reply sirius, I have usb ports aplenty which bodes well.
Anyhow I sent an email yesterday to the development team and am still awaiting reply.
I asked 3 specific questions
1 Can I really get digital audio from an iOS device without sacrificing my ASIO interface? (Just this alone gets my dollars)
2. Can I really stream audio from multiple iOS devices?
3. Can I charge my iOS device at the same time via the sync cable?
If its yes to all three then I think this app must be making the iconnect team very very nervous
I'm just waiting on a reply before taking the plunge (either beta or commercial release)
I really need digital audio from my Ipad mini 2, I've been looking at dedicated interfaces for months and that route just adds another layer of complexity that I don't need.

OK, woke up this morning, checked emails and the reply from the Music IO devs came back.
In summary:
1 Yes. 4 separate channels of audio from Idevice without sacrificing ASIO inputs
2. Yes. Multiple Idevices, though Mac only atm. Windows being worked on
3. Yes. An Idevice will charge as it normally does via the sync cable
I think I'll get me some itunes credit

Yeah I can see it is a clever app, but what's the point of it? If one has a PC, why would you also need to have an iOS device too? Seems to me it is simply doubling up for no real good reason. I am happy to be corrected, but truly I cannot understand why.

one of the advantages is that you can use an effect app on iPad that is not available as plugin. Although most plugins cover what can be done in iPad apps. The other advantage might be that you have more CPU resources left on your computer with outsourcing some tasks. Another thing is that you can use MIDI controller apps without the need for wifi network.

Let's you use iPad synths that you may not own pc version of or that don't exist on pc

@miden I'm mainly using Ableton which is a very good audio engine unfortunately tied to rather insipid GUI.
I bought my Ipad mini 2 to take advantage specifically of the rather wonderful TouchAble app which has greatly enhanced my workflow within the Ableton environment.
I'm also running a fairly aged desktop PC using Win XP (will upgrade this soon).
Mousing around in Ableton ain't fun. A touchscreen peripheral for Ableton makes it fun.
So yeah I bought a touchscreen MIDI controller for Ableton so far, so good but that touch device can do so much more within the audio control/design paradigm. Hence my enthusiasm for this app.
As Phil999 stated it also allows me to reduce CPU load on my main PC.

Well their are several advantages if you already own an IOS device.
MIDI Control: I use touchosc and build custom control interfaces for some of my software and hardware synths.
Affordable synths. Waldorf Nave on the Ipad is $23.00 USD. Waldorf Nave vst is $150.00 Euros (add currency conversion)
Unique Synths and groove boxes: There are a lot of ios synths and groove boxes, noise makers that are very cool and don't exist on other platforms (some are on Android) and they are usually very inexpensive.
In short inexpensive ecosystem and fun.

I have used musicio a bit on my PC. Keep in mind the iPad will only charge if you are using a high power USB 3.0 port. Otherwise it will not charge or it will charge very very slowly.
In FL studio music io goes in as an effect. And transfer audio quite well. Midi is another matter. Haven't gotten that one working just yet.

Hi -- I'm one of the developers of musicIO (this is in partnership with the Confusion Studios -- best known for MIDI Designer, and Audeonic Apps -- best known for MidiBus and MIDI Bridge). I don't check in to KVR frequently, so if you've got questions, the best bet is to hit us up over the support line....
But know that I know you guys are here, I'll try to check in a little more often!
